PSE's Policy & Energy Supply team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Supv ERG Operations & Maintenance position!
Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of an individual facility or collective facilities including directing crews and contractors.  Responsible to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and other regulatory requirements. 


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.


This position may be subject to random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Employee Safety, Development & Team Building – Providing employees with coaching, feedback and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
    • Demonstrates a passion for safety.  Promotes and supports a culture of total safety including eliminating at-risk behaviors by conducting safety audits and inspections, eliminating hazards and near misses, and attending safety meetings.
    • Sets clear expectations and holds the represented employees accountable for performance as well as safety goals/targets where applicable.
    • Oversees training and development of the represented employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.  Ensures required training is successfully completed.
    • Challenges and inspires the represented employees to achieve business results.
    • Accountable to ensure the represented employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements, as well as safety standards.
    • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews for the represented employees.
    • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve employee, business, customer and safety results.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing and response, to maintain reliability and compliance standards.
    • Monitors workload, accuracy, productivity and staffing levels and makes adjustments as appropriate.
    • Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to leadership, safety and compliance.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external entities including service providers.
    • Responds to and completes data requests to satisfy compliance requirements.
    • Contributes to the establishment of workforce management systems and reviews reports to support changes in work methods, in crew size and make-up, and personnel needed to maintain productivity.
  • Provides technical front line operational expertise, as well as leveraging technical worker skills to ensure successful resolution to a variety of issues/challenges, and to support the efficient operation of systems and/or equipment.
    • Interfaces with related PSE groups to ensure availability to meet electric or gas supply and demand.
    • Ensures standard operating procedures and emergency action plans are in place.
    • Ensures maintenance of facilities is in accordance with company procedures/policies and regulations.
    • Oversees planned outages and/or schedules maintenance for equipment and machinery.
    • In collaboration with other management and supervisor team members, maintains, monitors, updates, and/or issues associated records/documentation, and ensures compliance with operating standards and procedures, environmental as well as government regulations.
    • Responsible for proper management and control of parts and materials inventory.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily oversight, control and improvement of the work management process at one or more assets.
    • Coordinates with crew and management personnel on work identification, planning, scheduling, close-out and analysis for modifications and optimization of related resources, and development of knowledge transfer and training plans for the assigned asset(s).
    • Provides relevant information required for reporting, audits, inspections and/or renewals, and other related activities.
    • Completes planning and scheduling of preventative and corrective activities based on resource availability and operational constraints.
    • Manages and creates accurate job plans for all related activities within SAP Plant Maintenance including all resource, services, materials, procedures, documents, tools, etc.
  • Develops, maintains, implements and presents work management data analysis tools and key performance indicators.  Troubleshoots real-time operational issues as necessary.
  • Responsible for the process to ensure on-going review and accuracy of all preventive jobs and job plan data including process reviews and improvements.
  • Leads meetings related to planning and scheduling, including preparation of materials, and incorporation of schedule changes as assigned.
  • Responds to infrastructure and resource emergencies, such as outages and storm events, on a 24/7 basis.
  • May prepare annual maintenance and operations budgets, conducts ongoing tracking and reporting to ensure cost control of activities within corporate financial objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or electro-mechanical technology, or other related degree; or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • 5 years operations experience in utility/power generation/natural gas storage (including engineering, construction/maintenance/repairs, and/or electric/gas utility industry), or equivalent experience in operations/maintenance or engineering in other heavy industrial fields.
  • Experience with specialized operational systems (such as plant controls, maintenance planning/scheduling, major mechanical/electrical systems).
  • Demonstrated skills leading and developing personnel in a collaborative work environment and managing projects.
  • Demonstrated safety leader.
  • Strong teamwork, coaching, and organizational skills and an aptitude for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with a wide range of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.  
  • Strong business acumen including the ability to organize/prioritize/evaluate work and within budget constraints.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite.
  • Availability to respond to emergencies, such as outages and storm events, on a 24/7 basis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related degree.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer.
  • 5 years of increasingly responsible positions in directing field crews or project management. 
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric generation facilities.
  • Experience with financial management and/or budgeting.
  • Experience utilizing Computer Maintenance Management System Software (CMMS), preferably SAP Plant Maintenance software for work management.
  • Prior supervisory experience.

The pay range for this position is $78,100.00  - $188,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
