PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr IT Systems Engineer - Windows position!

Job Description

Significant investments have been made in the cloud to enhance offerings to customers and internal organizations. Technology is only half of the equation and we need great people with a mindset on automation, orchestration, and systems integration to build highly available, scalable and secure systems. The Cloud Services and Automation team is a fundamental component working closely with both IT and business teams to deliver holistic solutions.

This position will focus on the design, implementation and management Cloud and Automation solutions for PSE business units and IT. Focus will include consulting on many companywide technology initiatives. Additionally, optimizing operations by building thorough processes, solution integrations, and automation\orchestration will be a key aspect of this role.

Job Responsibilities
  • Proactively automates processes and routine tasks in PowerShell and Python.
  • Proactively reaches out within IT and the Business to identify and prioritize potential automation and orchestration.
  • Researches best practices for Cloud operations and presents solutions and options for clients.
  • Evaluates, recommends and selects appropriate development toolsets for infrastructure optimization.
  • Undertakes the most complex capacity planning, analysis and engineering design changes.
  • Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management and to less experienced infrastructure professionals.
  • Serves as lead resource for dealing with highly complex technical and/or business issues.
  • Applies advanced knowledge in a primary team and general knowledge in multiple relevant teams to create solutions for highly complex business situations.
  • Demonstrates success leading teams or collaborates with business partners and peer-level professionals from other IT Teams from PSE, vendor or consulting organizations.
  • Mentors peers to acquire fine points of professional practice.
  • Updates or creates documentation in collaboration with others from within or across teams.
  • Operates under limited supervision and direction.
  • Understands, creates, and promotes standards, guidelines, and policies for the use and integration of technology.
  • Updates/creates system documentation which may affect multiple teams.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of new system architectures, systems, tools, and techniques. Also performs the implementation once selections have been made.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer sciences or related, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 5 years of related experience in a DevOps environment writing code in support of operations or business processes
  • Experience with Python, Powershell or Java
  • Experience using DevOps toolsets in the areas of: Source Control, CI/CD Pipeline, Orchestration, Infrastructure Automation and Centralized Scheduling
  • Ability to work with customers in the evaluation and optimization of operational processes
  • Strong customer service and communications skills
  • Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members
  • Expertise in Linux or Windows OS
     
Desired Qualifications
  • Creation and management of operational Python, Powershell or Java
  • Experience with AWS or Azure Cloud Services (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible or equivalents.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
  • Experience developing operational reports with a combination of SQL and PowerBI/Tableau.
  • Experience querying and developing dashboards with log aggregators such as Splunk.
  • One or more AWS or Azure Certifications
