Job Description

Puget Sound Energy Redmond, WA seeks Senior Applications Configuration Analysts responsible for diagnosing complex problems, developing and implementing solutions in a utility environment for mission-critical, high availability Gas SCADA system utilizing OASyS applications.  

Job Responsibilities

Configuring gas measurement points, stations and sites using Gas Measurement and Analysis System (GMAS), maintaining GMAS for its optimal performance. Collaborating with engineers during design phase of gas gate station, developing schematics, configuring SCADA points, verifying connectivity for different protocols such as DNP, and performing point-to-point verification of all SCADA points in newly commissioned remote terminal unit (RTU). Working with realtime, timeseries and relational databases using SCADA vendor database utilities, OSISoft PI System applications and Microsoft SQL, and developing reports and displays using PI Processbook and custom applications. Participating in disaster SCADA system recovery planning and identifying steps and resources required for during pre-recovery, failover and validation if recovery has succeeded. Identifying process for automation in gas control operations, developing its functional and technical requirements/specifications, and designing and implementing the application. Providing guidance to business and functional units in developing tests processes using various engineering tools. Providing day-to-day technical support to users and training to junior configurators to develop skillset to perform administrative function in maintaining gas SCADA system.  

Minimum Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in any Engineering or Computer field and two (2) yrs. experience in Job Offered or related.  Experience must have included: Maintaining mission critical, high availability Gas SCADA system utilizing OASyS applications including eXtended Operator System (XOS), eXtended Editor (XE), Advance Database Editor (ADE) and Application Calculation Engine (ACE); Utilizing OASyS in order to troubleshoot wide-ranging SCADA complex issues including connectivity, replication, data pumping and synchronization between systems; Use of Gas Measurement and Analysis System (GMAS) in order to configure meters, gas quality, measurement points, stations and sites, analyze Gas Processing Subsystem (GPS) and utilize monitoring tools to maintain and troubleshoot GMAS issues; Gas pipeline experience including collaborating with engineers during design phase of gas gate station, creating schematics, configuring SCADA points, setting up connectivity using different communication protocols, and performing point-to-point verification during Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) commissioning; Working with Realtime data using Telvent database utilities to perform complex operations on SCADA records, configuring and administering OSISoft PI Archive, PI Interface and PI Asset Framework for timeseries data, utilizing Microsoft SQL to retrieve historical records and pushing it to Reporting Services, and generating displays and reports using PI Processbook and customized VB.NET applications; Developing, testing and executing disaster recovery plan for SCADA system, switching SCADA operation between main and backup systems, and validating failover success.
