PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior IT Facilities Infrastructure Engineer position!

Job Description

Designs, develops, secures and maintains the physical infrastructure, network, and layout of Data Centers, Communication Rooms, DC Plant and IT infrastructure for PSE Facilities. Provides architectural framework for servers, hardware, switches, cabling, wiring, batteries, peripherals, connections and connectivity. Implements standards and guidelines. Ensures adequate HVAC, power, battery supply and bandwidth to maintain target environment for all IT hardware in Data Centers, Communication Rooms and IT infrastructure for PSE Facilities. Performs reliability testing and plans emergency or disaster procedures. Works under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Highly-skilled with extensive proficiency.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides standard document template for Data Centers, Communication Room, DC Plant and IT infrastructure for PSE Facility as-builts.
  • Designs conduit to facilitate the placement of communication, connectivity, network and security systems in all Infrastructure Facilities.
  • Evaluates and designs Data Center, Communication Room, DC Plants and IT infrastructure for PSE Facility standards according to established plans, designs for room layouts including network, voice drops, racks, power, battery, UPS, cabling, wiring, space, cooling and AV/conference room technology.
  • Evaluates and designs room layouts for Infrastructure Facilities including substations, generation facilities, gas storage facilities and service centers.
  • Creates standards and procedures.
  • Implements moderately complex technology solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Serves as a high-level technical resource for technologies which may span the enterprise. Leads complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis.
  • Works with various vendors to maintain equipment including firmware, service packs, security patches, etc. to ensure the maximum performance, security, and availability of the systems.
  • Demonstrates the application of technology to defined requirements and has a detailed understanding of some infrastructure architectures.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of new system architectures, systems, tools, and techniques. Also performs the implementation once selections have been made.
  • Advises on selection of technology purchases.
  • Understands and promotes standards, guidelines, and policies for the use and integration of technology.
  • Participates in capacity planning, system installations, upgrades, and other maintenance activities for enterprise and departmental systems.
  • Reviews the environment and proactively implements changes to reduce problems and work stoppage.
  • Analyzes system-wide performance indicators. Changes system software and parameters to ensure maximum system operating efficiency and availability as directed.
  • Updates/creates system documentation that may affect multiple teams.
  • Manages or consults on small projects to ensure proper allocation of resources, and high client satisfaction.
  • Effectively manages day-to-day relationships with business partners, vendors, professional peers, and other team members.
  • Works with IT personnel across all segments.
  • Estimates resources and costs for smaller systems and medium projects.
  • Operates under minimal direction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As part of the IT Workforce Architecture Project, assigned level P3

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in related field, or combination of specialized training or experience and five years of directly relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge working in Data Centers and/or Communication Rooms and IT infrastructure for Facilities
  • Advanced experience working with IT infrastructure and IT hardware in Data Centers and/or Communication Rooms and Facilities and/or DC Plant
  • Advanced power knowledge related to Infrastructure Facilities
  • Advanced cooling knowledge related to Infrastructure Facilities
  • Solid experience in Visio
  • Advanced experience in Data Center and or Communication Room system monitoring
  • Advanced knowledge of Cable management
  • Advanced knowledge in Audio Visual/conference room technology
  • Advanced experience with participating in projects in a cross-functional environment
  • Solid organizational skills and demonstrates attention to detail in documentation
  • Self-driven and provides technical solutions
  • Solid leadership and working as a team
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge and technology

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Technology Information Library - ITIL Process/Service Management -Certified
  • Advanced knowledge of Data Center industry best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of I-Triple E industry standards
  • Advanced knowledge of BICSI standards
  • Advanced knowledge of Cable management
  • Advanced knowledge of DC Plant industry best practice
  • Solid experience in CAD drawings
  • SharePoint
  • Microsoft Office products
  • Remedy or other Service Management tool
  • Lync
  • NERC Security Standards
