Job Description

Foundational to this growth is PSE’s new Distribution Management System, and the IT Distribution Management Systems team is looking for an Associate Application Configuration Analyst.


Smart grid technology is rapidly growing at PSE and will be forefront to your work with us. You will be part of a team maintaining, configuring, improving, and monitoring our applications in support of a 24x7 SCADA, Outage Management, and other Advanced Distribution Management features.


An ideal candidate will have a blend of Compute Science and Electrical Engineering knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

  • Daily production support and maintenance of a Distribution Management System (DMS).
  • Provides improvements to the DMS via configurations.
  • Performs functional analysis, requirements, definition and application module configuration and testing.
  • Enhances application monitoring and self-correction through scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Help support a team with 24x7, 99.99% availability for critical applications.
  • Works with SCADA team to model new equipment within the DMS.
  • Performs independent and team research to resolve business issues and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to analyze are resolve product defects.
  • Participates in business strategies, objectives and drivers.
  • Participates in project initiation and defines high-level requirements.
  • Facilitates process to gather/establish business requirements.
  • Is responsible for the identification of and resolution of gaps in the business processes. Involved in security/authorization set-up, user documentation, data interface design, data migration and reconciliation.
  • Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with (specialized technical requirements as shown in technical addendum).
  • Previous coursework or experience in (specialized technical requirements as shown in technical addendum).
  • Understanding of one or more component areas relevant to the job.
  • Has working knowledge in one or more of (specialized technical requirements as shown in technical addendum) functional modules. 
  • Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, and conceptual skills. 
  • Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems.  Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Desired Qualifications

  • A blend of Compute Science and Electrical Engineering knowledge.
  • Experience with SQL Server database queries.
  • PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience of application monitoring, especially using SPLUNK.
  • Familiar with project and software development using Agile methodologies and processes.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and support of web-based IIS applications.
