PSE's IT Application Solutions team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Application Developer - OSIsoft PI position!

Job Description

The Application Developer will ideally have experience using the OSIsoft PI product suite in a utility environment. Our PI systems serve as portals into the real time operation of our electric and gas business units, including energy generation, transmission, and distribution.  In this role, you will be a liaison between cross-functional IT groups and the control room Operators, helping to ensure reliable energy delivery to our customers. You will be responsible for deploying and supporting client projects on our team, specifically around OSI PI from OSIsoft. This could include working with a multitude of technologies such as HMI and SCADA development, custom software development, integrating databases, working with data historians and Asset Framework, among other things. You will be responsible for engaging with the customer, guiding and leading them through solutions, and ultimately delivering successful projects. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Experience designing and implementing highly reliable and large-scale systems with HA collectives 
•    Experience installing, configuring, validating, and tuning PI Server and interfaces
•    Experience implementing analytic solutions with PI Asset Framework Analytics, PI ACE, PI  Notifications and Performance Equations
•    Experience installing and tailoring client software including PI Vision, ProcessBook, DataLink, and PI WebParts
•    Experience with PI Event Frames and PI Batch setup and configuration
•    Experience working with energy management systems
•    Understanding of Windows OS, networking, and system security fundamentals
•    Understand and follows project and software development methodologies and processes and may assist in aligning the process with project needs.
•    Work with customers to ensure successful implementation of OSI PI projects.
•    Work with customers on current implementations of OSI PI and other data historians and effectively get data out of historians.
•    Interact with customers allowing you to use a broad range of technical skills including but not limited to: (1) SQL Database Development; (2) Programming and scripting using, SQL PL/SQL, VB.NET, C#, and others; (3) Data reporting using various tools 
•    Assisting other resources to provide solutions to customers by providing outstanding analysis, design, and guidance on projects
•    Learn new technologies to help provide the right solutions to customers.
•    Work through the complete life cycle of a project.
•    Perform at a high level to provide solutions to customer’s problems by going the extra mile.
•    Ability to work as a team member, but can also work alone, unsupervised
•    Periodically available to support 24-hour on-call duty, as part of a team rotation

While the list above signifies different systems and technologies that our team comes in contact with, the candidate does not need to have experience with ALL systems listed below. Currently PSE is searching for a systems engineer that has some experience working with OSIsoft's PI application and has experience in some of the other areas listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

•    2 years of experience in related field or combination of specialized training or experience. 
•    Demonstrated experience with three or more programming languages and strong knowledge of office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
•    Understands and follows project and software development methodologies and processes.
•    Experience with at least one full life cycle implementation of a new application or purchased application.
•    Demonstrated experience in defining scope and requirements of new developments to meet changing business requirements.
•    Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools.
•    Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions.
•    Strong analytical problem-solving, and conceptual skills. 
•    Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems.  Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions. 
•    Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and has a customer-focused service attitude.
•    Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
•    Ability to work with multiple levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Desired Qualifications

•    Knowledge and experience related to different Data Sources, Pi interface and server, and Pi Clients (i.e. Data Link, Pi Process Book, Pi Vision, PI Data Access, etc.).
•    Experience developing custom applications in C# and VB.Net
•    Well-structured and your attitude is focused on quality
•    Fluent in critical thinking, structured analysis and problem solving
•    Have an excellent analytical mindset, paying close attention to details
•    Have creativity and ability to think out-of-the-box
•    Goal-oriented, self-motivated and self-driven
•    Good communication skills including proficient fluency in verbal and written English
•    Strong data analytics skills and expertise 
•    Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
