PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Advisor Network Engineer position!

Job Description

 

Seeking an experienced Advisor Network Engineer to serve as technical lead and subject matter expert for our Enterprise Network Team, specializing in Cisco wireless platforms, Catalyst Center, ISE, and Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM solutions.

 

Provides the planning, design, acquisition and implementation of the company’s network and voice services. Evaluates business requirements to develop and implement solutions. Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons. Performs traffic study analysis to determine best configuration of systems.   Manages infrastructure related to networks and VoIP systems including related hardware and software to ensure availability, recoverability, performance, integrity and supportability through production support and maintenance of existing network and development and implementation of network enhancements.

 

·    Lead enterprise-wide Cisco Wi-Fi 6/6E design, deployment, and modernization initiatives
·    Architect high-density wireless solutions for diverse environments (offices, generation facilities, and outdoor environments)
·    Oversee comprehensive wireless site surveys across multiple facilities, including office buildings, generation sites, service centers, and outdoor environments
·    Manage vendor relationships with specialized wireless survey contractors 
·    Design wireless networks supporting 1000+ concurrent users with advanced QoS
·    Implement advanced security protocols and location services using Cisco DNA Spaces
·    Manage Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and cloud-based solutions
·    Experience implementing and managing a network security solution using Security Group Tag (SGT) for access control in both a wired and wireless infrastructure
·    Automate wireless and wired network deployments with Cisco Catalyst Center
·    Administers, monitors, troubleshoots, configures, enhances and provides advanced customer support for the existing network.
·    Design and implement Cisco ACI solutions with spine-leaf architecture
·    Manage Cisco Nexus switching platforms and software-defined networking
·    Develop automation workflows using APIs, Python, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
·    Implement zero-touch provisioning

·    Plans and executes network designs, configurations, or enhancements to existing network and voice services. Researches, recommends and designs new technologies, new configurations and enhancements to existing networks; provides consulting advice to customers on the capabilities of the network environment.
·    Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works outside immediate discipline to coordinate a group of people in troubleshooting a wide-scale problem, serves as point-of-contact across several areas or disciplines to solve major network outages with high impact or visibility.
  • Provides highest level of troubleshooting on unique problems unanswered at lower levels. Serves as highest level technical resource for a networking and VoIP technology.
  • Serves as lead resource for dealing with highly complex technical and/or business issues.
  • Applies advanced knowledge in a primary team and general knowledge in multiple relevant teams to create solutions for highly complex business situations.
  • Designs and leads implementation of hardware, software and environment standards based on business strategy and architecture.
  • Evaluates, recommends and selects appropriate hardware and software for network infrastructure.
  • Recommends network integration required to support business applications needs.
  • Performs lead role in reviewing vendor proposals and making recommendations.
  • Designs and implements network architectures, including WLANs, LANs, LAN-to-LAN communications, VoIP, and connections with the WAN environment.
  • Designs servers and networks; installs routers and switches; identifies solutions through constant interfacing with appropriate management levels, clients, department, and vendor organizations to ensure a cost-effective and efficient infrastructure environment is available to provide the processing power essential to department operations.
  • Installs servers, switches, networks, routers, and systems hardware; troubleshoots, maintains, upgrades, and provides solutions to complex hardware/software problems; alerts management, help desk team, and other IT groups when sensitive issues arise or a major problem is suspected; minimizes client productivity loss caused by technology outages, and provides necessary infrastructure for clients to meet their business needs.
  • Develops/follows procedures for LAN/WAN/VoIP administration (e.g., security, reliability).
  • Configures, installs, and maintains necessary hardware and software for LAN/WAN/VoIP hardware and software to provide a suitable environment to run production applications and to perform development; performs maintenance and release upgrades on a timely basis or as needed; monitors performance and availability of LAN/WAN platforms.
  • Develops test plans (including cases for functionality, integrity, and stress testing; tests matrices; and definition of test methodologies and test strategy); is responsible for the creation of test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and designs test networks; develops automated test suites for product regression and stress testing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) year degree or certification in a technology-related field or equivalent combination of education, work experience or relevant military experience, and at least six (6) years of experience in related field.
  • Six (6) years of directly related experience in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), network designing, planning and implementing WLANs, LANs, WANs, and VoIP using latest technology. 
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams and with personnel of varying and differing skills, backgrounds and disciplines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of WAN/LAN/VoIP design/configuration/support, network protocols and router/switch administration.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with IT infrastructure, MPLS, data, voice, Telco, concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routers, switches, domains, DNS, DHCP and subnets.
  • Advanced knowledge with Cisco IOS commands, upgrades, and is proficient with specific network routing and bridging protocols (OSPF, BGP, Multicast, QOS, Vlans, VoIP and IPSEC VPN).
  • Have solid knowledge of department-specific applications.
  • Solid technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to solve network infrastructure issues and to manage the performance and capacity of a WLAN/LAN/WAN/VoIP environment.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to and apply rapidly changing technology to business needs.
  • Ability to assess internal and external communication practices, anticipate future network requirements, and research and analyze emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network provider services and understanding LAN/WAN/VoIP principles.

Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 10+ years enterprise networking experience
  • 6+ years hands-on Cisco Wi-Fi 6/6E implementations
  • 4+ years hands-on Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM implementation and management
  • 3+ years Cisco ISE implementation, configuration, and policy management
  • 3+ years data center technologies (ACI, Nexus) and network automation
  • 2+ years Cisco SD-WAN experience
  • Expert-level RF knowledge and large-scale wireless deployments (500+ APs)
  • CCNP / CCIE / CWNE / CWNA or equivalent experience
  • Expert knowledge level in Infoblox Core DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)
  • Customer centric focus with demonstrated ability to apply insights to meet customer technology needs and improve IT maturity.
  • Proven experience working independently and/or in a team environments to deliver on initiatives.

  • Extensive experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers including 9800 series
  • Deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of Cisco Access Points (APs)
  • Cisco ISE Integration with 3rd party vendor technologies
  • Network Security: Strong understanding of WPA2, WPA3, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, PKI, and certificate management
  • Directory Services: Experience with Active Directory LDAP integration
  • Network Infrastructure: Knowledge of switches, wireless controllers, and network segmentation
  • Infoblox NIOS administration, Grid management, and DDI services configuration
  • Experience with Infoblox API automation and integration with network infrastructure
  • Knowledge of DNS security features, DHCP failover, and IP address management best practices
  • Python programming, automation frameworks, API integration
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting in a large enterprise multi-site environment
  • Advanced network routing & switching knowledge with routing protocols (BGP, VxLAN, OSPF) and overlay technologies
  • Hands-on with Mobility Express, FlexConnect, and centralized/local mode architectures

The pay range for this position is $114,300.00 - $201,000.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
