Job Description

Puget Sound Energy's Mint Farm Generating Station, located in Longview, WA, is looking for a Maintenance Planner to join our team.

The Mint Farm Generating Station can produce 320 megawatts of electricity when running at maximum capacity.  That is enough power to meet the peak electricity demand of about 240,000 households!  PSE needs a Maintenance Planner that will, under minimal supervision, plan, schedule and coordinate site projects and manage corrective and preventative maintenance activities using the SAP Plant Maintenance Module.  The individual will be responsible for the oversight, control, improvement and planning/scheduling of the maintenance management processes for assigned assets and will work independently or on project teams to support the successful completion of projects.  The successful candidate will work on assignments with the goal of growing their technical and managerial knowledge of PSE processes and systems.

The Maintenance Planner will be expected to promote and support a culture of total safey, support emergency response operations and uphold the compliance and reliability standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily oversight, control and improvement of the work management process at one or more assets.
    • Coordinates with crew and management personnel on work identification, planning, scheduling, close-out and analysis for modifications and optimization of related resources, and development of knowledge transfer and training plans for the assigned asset(s).
    • Maintains, monitors, updates, and/or issues associated records/documentation, and ensures compliance with operating standards and procedures, as well as government regulations.
    • Provides relevant information required for reporting, audits, inspections and/or renewals, and other related activities.
    • Completes planning and scheduling of preventative and corrective activities based on resource availability and operational constraints.
    • Manages and creates accurate job plans for all related activities within SAP Plant Maintenance including all resources, services, materials, procedures, documents, tools, etc.
  • Leads the annual review and improvement of work management roles and responsibilities, at the work site as necessary.
  • Leads the planning and scheduling of large jobs or programs, such as annual outages or capital projects.
  • Resource levels the annual and six-week schedules.
  • Develops, maintains, implements and presents work management data analysis tools and key performance indicators. Troubleshoots real-time operational issues as necessary.
  • Responsible for the process to ensure on-going review and accuracy of all preventive jobs and job plan data including process reviews and improvements.
  • Leads meetings related to planning and scheduling, including preparation of materials, and incorporation of schedule changes as assigned.
  • Provides training on related systems and/or processes, and maintains all required documentation.
  • Responds to emergency situations as required. May perform shift work and weekend duty as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in project/construction/operations management, engineering, business, economics, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 7 years experience in maintenance planning/operations related to an industrial workplace.
  • Advanced experience with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance module or similar.
  • Experience with computer maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of heavy industrial equipment or other mechanical background.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) planning and scheduling processes and resource leveling concepts.
  • Experience in operational, engineering and work management systems and processes.
  • Extensive experience with planning and scheduling in the SAP Plant Maintenance module.
  • Strong working knowledge of power generation equipment, systems and design and demonstrated experience with power generation maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated compliance experience in the power generation industry.
  • Project and outage management experience (PMP certificate preferred).
  • Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
