PSE's Corporate Shared Services team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Warehouser I position!


Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Safety is the number one priority for Puget Sound Energy. This position requires participation in safety meetings, performing safety inspections, identification and reporting of safety incidents and unsafe conditions, as well as obtaining and maintaining required licenses.

This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

 

Warehousers at PSE receive, issue and maintain all materials necessary in the operation of the storeroom. Develop a complete working knowledge of all materials and there interrelated use and application. Process and maintain all materials management forms and records by manual or direct entry methods. Maintain a neat and orderly warehouse facility in compliance with all governmental regulations. They are responsible for the disposition of all materials through proper channels. Successful candidates must be knowledgeable and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices and procedures and State and Federal safety regulations as they pertain to the job. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Job Responsibilities

  • Receiving- inspection, documentation, vendor communication and resolution, proper packaging teardown, labeling and storage
  • Inventory and inventory control- maintaining records of issuances, receipts and other movements in accordance with department and SOX requirements. Keeping all inventory systems and data up to date with the physical stock, maintain master data as required. Review job, bulk and ad-hoc requirements to set and align stocking levels to maintain proper order quantities to minimize handling, overstock or understock as well as to support customer needs.
  • Picking and Staging- selecting material ordered by customers, packing in a safe and protective manner, consolidating for ease of receive, marking and repacking as required
  • Loading and Unloading- Load planning to maximize space efficiency while complying with DOT regulations for load distribution and other requirements. Operating forklifts, yard hostlers and other equipment proficiently. Unloading material in a timely manner and checking for accuracy of paperwork. Distributing the unloaded materials to their proper departments or areas
  • Maintaining clean and orderly warehouse and yard areas
  • Perform stores functions and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Warehouser I Requirements:

  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience including the handling, record keeping and control of a wide variety of parts, materials, supplies and equipment using a computerized control system.
  • Operate all computer applications necessary for the job including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well as the ability to learn new programs and applications as they are implemented.
  • Be able to safety lift fifty (50) pounds consistently and repetitively using proper lifting techniques. Must be able to safely lift seventy (70) pounds occasionally. Be able to identify when equipment or a second person is needed to lift large, bulky or heavy items.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Must have or obtain within thirty (30) days of selection a Material Handling Equipment Operator's Certificate.
  • Must have or obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card within one (1) year of employment and complete required training to maintain the CPR/First Aid card.
  • Applicants possessing previous stores experience will enter training program at grade I level.

Warehouser II Requirements:

  • In addition to meeting the requirements of a Warehouser I, employees must have the following basic qualifications to advance to a Warehouser II - one (I) year stores experience, successful completion of the Warehouser II Examination, and successful completion of Electric and Gas Basic Course

Warehouser III Requirements:

  • In addition to meeting the requirements of a Warehouser II, employees must have the following basic qualifications to advance to a Warehouser III - two (2) years stores experience, successful completion of Warehouser III Examination.

Warehouser IV Requirements:

  • In addition to meeting the requirements of a Warehouser III, employees must have the following basic qualifications to advance to a Warehouser IV - a Warehouser III and successful passage of three (3) quarters of college level accounting. In lieu of the third quarter of accounting, one (1) quarter of college level math may be substituted (examples include: calculus, trigonometry, geometry, algebra, math for business and economics, economics, or statistics). All Warehouser IV’s will also successfully complete Microsoft Office Suite training in PSE’s Learning Management System (LMS).

Desired Qualifications

Must pass Certification Examination administered three (3) years from date of advancement to Warehouser IV. After successful completion of the Certification Examination, the employee may be subject to future Recertification Examination procedures only upon receiving a negative job performance evaluation. If a Warehouser IV fails a Certification Exam section(s), the employee may choose to be reexamined on the failed exam section(s), such reexamination to take place after thirty (30) but before sixty (60) days of failure. To qualify for this option, the employee must notify the Materials Testing Administrator at least twenty-one (21) calendar days in advance of such a date. If employee is unsuccessful on the above retake of the exam section(s) failed, the employee may exercise the above option two (2) more times, each after thirty (30) but before sixty (60) days of last failure. If the employee is unsuccessful on all three (3) retakes of the exam section(s) failed, or chooses not to exercise any one of the above three (3) retake options, the employee is reclassified to Warehouser III. To advance to Warehouser IV, the employee must wait at least one (1) full year from the date of last failure and is then eligible to retake all sections of Certification Exam. If still unsuccessful, the above cycle of options is again offered. The employee may choose to repeat the above full cycle on a yearly basis until successful. All other Warehouser IV requirements must also be satisfied before advancement.


An employee at the level of Warehouser IV with satisfactory performance may bid Warehouser vacancies at other locations. If no Warehouser IV employees successfully bid the job it will revert to an entry level position.

Job Conditions and Physical Efforts:

The duties and responsibilities are performed in a plant or support services environment.

 

The environmental conditions include ambient inside temperature and lighting levels. Conditions may also include medium to loud noise levels and hazardous conditions. The position involves sitting, standing, walking, moderate to heavy lifting, moderate to heavy carrying, kneeling, twisting, balancing, climbing, reaching, pushing/ pulling, grasping and operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

 

The use of protective clothing and/or safety devices is required.

The pay range for this position is $36.68 - $36.68, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
