PSE's Customer Engagement team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Outreach Manager - South King County position!

Job Description

This role is posted at two different levels for one opening: Senior Outreach Manager - South King County(6259) & Outreach Manager - South King County(6200). Please apply to the position that best matches your qualifications.

 

This position will will directly support work with our small businesses in Southern King County. This position needs someone who can think strategically, collaborate with others, and design and execute outreach plans in their community.

 

The Customer Outreach team is dedicated to fostering participation in PSE’s programs, encompassing initiatives including energy efficiency, bill assistance, customer renewable energy programs and others. This is achieved through direct customer education and strategic partnerships at the local level. Our team helps customers save money and meet their sustainability goals, while supporting PSE’s clean energy future.
•    Direct interactions with customers, including small and medium business owners and communities in need
•    Plan and lead program and energy assistance education presentations, workshops and tablings in the community 
•    Relationship building with community partners and business owners
•    Build trust with the community through consistent in person outreach
•    Work with Marketing and Events teams to support and coordinate program campaigns 
•    In field travel required throughout service area, the expectation of this at 50% of the week in field.

This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works to understand customers and communities with barriers to participation and supports approaches to reach them with program information. 
  • Works with program, marketing, and events teams to implement outreach strategies for assigned customer segments (low income, tribal, seniors, small and medium businesses etc.), under management supervision. 
  • Supports relationship building with community partners and business owners. Participates in direct customer interactions for assigned audiences, including small and medium business owners, tribal communities, and residential customers facing barriers. 
  • Maintains knowledge of PSE programs and their basic interactions to effectively communicate benefits to customers. 
  • Plans and conducts program education presentations, workshops, and tabling events. Supports efforts to increase participation in existing products and services and raises awareness of customer emergency preparedness. 
  • Supports trust-building and relationship development within the community through consistent in-person outreach activities.
  • Collaborates with marketing and events teams to execute on-the-ground outreach elements for program campaigns under guidance from senior staff and management. 
  • Identifies potential obstacles to customer participation and communicates findings to senior team members and management. 
  • Implements local direct-to-customer outreach plans for assigned communities under supervision. 
  • Executes residential and/or small business program-specific outreach activities as directed by senior outreach staff and management.
  • Operates a motor vehicle a minimum of six (6) hours a week to travel to commercial and community locations or facilities. 
  • During emergency events, supports corporate crisis response efforts at a local level by distributing information on PSE's emergency response and safety messaging. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, social work or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Five (5) years of experience in external relationship management/customer outreach. 
  • Experience in customer outreach/community relations.
  • Experience supporting the execution of customer outreach activities.
  • Project management skills including hands-on activities (e.g., assisting with workshops, staffing event tables, helping customers sign up for programs, etc.). Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. 
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Understanding of community needs and customer service principles. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience working with external partners and diverse communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Ability to connect with customers in person within assigned service area on a regular basis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion as needed.
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual or fluent written and verbal communication in a language other than English.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local community, including those who face barriers to participate.
  • Understanding of utility business model. 
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable energy, corporate responsibility, and sustainability. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
