PSE's Customer Energy Mgmt & Renewables team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Market Analyst - Energy Efficiency position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Senior Market Analyst to support our Energy Efficiency Planning, Evaluation, and Research Team. You will manage energy efficiency program impact and process evaluations, perform and support research to inform program enhancements, utilize program and customer data to conduct market research, and be a collaborator that brings tools and insights to peers within Energy Efficiency and the company. Program energy savings are the lifeblood of this team, and it is our team’s responsibility to validate achieved energy savings using robust evaluation, measurement and verification techniques.


You will be responsible for aiding the development and incorporation of new energy efficient products and services in partnership with program management teams. As a proficient evaluator and researcher, you will design, maintain, update and analyze market studies, reports and data.


As utilities incorporate a broad range of new technologies including distributed energy resources, localized targeted program implementation, and load shifting and flexibility in both residential and commercial buildings, new energy efficiency opportunities will emerge, and we need your help to incorporate them into our programs.


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, curious, and passionate about the energy ecosystem and specifically, energy efficiency. We expect you to uphold the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promote and support a culture of total safety. If you do not quite meet the minimum qualifications, please still apply, as you would be considered for a lower below the senior level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and analysis using accepted methodologies.
  • Coordinates planning for research and analysis projects.
  • Presents project results, data, or other work products to internal and external audiences.
  • Leads and participates in multidisciplinary project teams, including internal and external groups.
  • Oversees contractor and consultant work.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of market information and databases.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops new stakeholder/constituent relationships.
  • Manages multiple assignments with timely completion and high quality, valuable results.
  • Participates in local, regional and national initiatives or organizations to achieve outcomes consistent with our Energy Efficiency goals.
  • Participates in emergency response efforts as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, planning, public policy, or other relevant field. 
  • 5 years of experience in market/program/product analysis, research, or evaluation
  • Relevant utility experience beyond the minimum requirement may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Can work independently to complete complex projects with limited direct supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to synthesize data and other information into clear, actionable deliverables 
  • Ability to work well with others, take initiative, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation and analytical tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree requiring strong statistical, economic or database analysis skills
  • Experience with electric or gas demand-side management program planning, market research, evaluation, regulation, or policy analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and utility billing systems
