PSE's Customer Init & Continuous Improvement team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Instructional Designer position!

Job Description

Plans, organizes, and develops training curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs. Analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content. Plans and coordinates skill assessments and training. Works with management to ensure course materials are current and relevant to traning needs. Tracks and analyzes training programs by examining learner’s satisfaction levels, profienciency testing, and job performance. Provides instruction and guidance to trainers. May assist in the design of computer-based training systems.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct.  Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes training requirements across corporate departments.
  • Designs and develops instructional systems including objectives, learning steps, tests, sequence and structure, and delivery systems.
  • Validates instructional systems and course content.
  • Manages implementation of training delivery.
  • Evaluates training system effectiveness.
  • Develops blended learning systems for use in Learning Management System (LMS) environment.
  • Collaborates with functional trainers and management.
  • Coordinates and assesses third party content developers.
  • Mentors and coaches other training professionals.
  • Collaborate with LMS Administrator as needed.
  • May deliver training on occasion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA in education, adult learning or equivalent experience necessary to perform the job.
  • 5 years experience in instructional system development.
  • 2 years experience with Learning Management Systems in a blended learning environment.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, learning styles and generational differences.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in team relational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, develop and implement new training initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Strong writing and verbal communications skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Gas/Electric Utility experience.
  • Web-based delivery experience.
  • SCORM compliant development experience.
