PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Advisor IT Facilities Infrastructure Engineer position!

Job Description

Designs, develops, secures and maintains the physical infrastructure, network, and layout of Data Centers, Communication Rooms, DC Plant and IT infrastructure for PSE Facilities. Provides architectural framework for servers, hardware, switches, cabling, wiring, batteries, peripherals, connections and connectivity. Sets standards and guidelines. Ensures adequate HVAC, power, battery supply and bandwidth to maintain target environment for all IT hardware in Data Centers, Communication Rooms and IT infrastructure for PSE Facilities. Performs reliability testing and plans emergency or disaster procedures. Works without supervision on the most complex projects.
Complete latitude for independent judgment. Assists less experienced peers. Master knowledge of the field.

This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Pioneers, owns, leads, supports and provides strategic and technical expertise with multiple technologies that span the multiple areas of discipline in Infrastructure Facilities – Data Centers, Communication Rooms, DC Plant and IT infrastructure for PSE Facilities, substations, generation facilities, gas storage facilities and service centers on computing platform technologies or as the deepest expert on multiple technologies.
  • Provides strategic leadership and highest level technical expertise and design for the technology in Data Centers, Communication Rooms and DC Plant along with the technology that supports and maintains all IT Infrastructure for PSE Facilities which includes AV/conference room technology.
  • Develops and owns Enterprise Facility Infrastructure roadmap.
  • Understands intuitively and holistically the most complex system designs and performance in unstable/dynamic or crisis situations based on broad and deep applied professional experience in a primary team with broad exposure to multiple segments to ensure effective technology integration.
  • Sets standards across technology domains.
  • Serves as highest-level technical resource for highly complex enterprise wide technologies. Leads complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis.
  • Works with various vendors to maintain equipment including firmware, service packs, security patches, etc. to ensure the maximum performance, security, and availability of the systems.
  • Demonstrates the application of technology to business needs and detailed understanding of multiple application and infrastructure architectures.
  • Evaluates, selects, integrates, and implements new system architectures, systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Evaluates and advises on selection of technology purchases related to large scale processing, data storage, and application platforms.
  • Defines and promotes standards, guidelines, and policies for the use and integration of technology.
  • Applies high skill with commands, utilities, and understands advanced aspects in the administration of systems.
  • Leads capacity planning, system installations, upgrades, and other maintenance activities for enterprise and departmental systems.
  • Reviews the environment and proactively implements changes to reduce problems and work stoppage.
  • Defines key performance indicators and thresholds for systems. Identifies strategic initiatives and plans to improve KPIs.
  • Oversees the updating/creation of system documentation which affects multiple teams.
  • Manages or consults on large projects to ensure proper allocation of resources, budgets, and high client satisfaction.
  • Highly skilled in conflict management and effectively managing the most complex relationships with business partners, vendors, professional peers, and other team members.
  • Works with IT personnel across all segments at senior levels.
  • Estimates resources and costs for new ventures or very large projects.
  • Operates under minimal direction and often leads others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) year degree or certification in a technology-related field or equivalent combination of education, work experience or relevant military experience, and at least eight (8) years of experience in related field.
  • Master experience working in Data Centers and/or Communication Rooms and IT Infrastructure for Facilities
  • Master experience working with the technology that supports and maintains IT infrastructure for Data Centers and/or Communication Rooms and Facilities, AV/conference room technology and DC Plant
  • Master power knowledge related to Infrastructure Facilities
  • Master cooling knowledge related to Infrastructure Facilities
  • Master experience in Data Center and or Communication Room system monitoring
  • Advanced experience in Visio
  • Experience as a project leader of sub-projects of enterprise-level initiatives
  • Experience with complete project lifecycle from inception to completion
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and demonstrate attention to detail in documentation
  • Self-driven and strategic critical thinking ability
  • Excellent leadership skills and working in a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills which include presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with Directors and Managers driving strategic initiatives
  • Works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge and technology

  • Advanced experience in CAD drawings

The pay range for this position is $114,300.00 - $201,000.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
