PSE's IT Application Solutions team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open IT Cloud Architect position!

Job Description

Demonstrates Technical Cloud Architectural knowledge with industry standards and architecture best practices. Employs a system engineering approach to design complete and complex frameworks and systems, with a focus on enabling business capabilities within the Customer IT Project Portfolio leveraging SaaS and other Cloud native solutions. Partners with Cloud Services team to align on production management of new capabilities enablement through project portfolio investment. 

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

•    Owns, maintains, and executes the Cloud Strategy, with a focus on enabling customer-facing technologies and solutions and migration of workload to AWS Managed Cloud. 
•    Enables the customer vision through technical and product thought leadership, leveraging a cloud-first approach to support customer-facing initiatives such as website enhancements, billing systems, call center technologies, and product development. 
•    Researches, analyzes, designs, and proposes solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies, are in alignment with IT's reference architecture, and that capitalize on the principles of technology rationalization and reuse to ensure efficient usage of PSE's IT dollars. 
•    Collaborates with Business Teams and Solution Delivery Technology teams on development of Technology Solution Strategies and Roadmaps for customer-facing initiatives. 
•    Develops technology policies, standards, frameworks, and guiding principles for customer-facing technologies. 
•    Partners with IT Security, Procurement, and Business teams to evaluate and select new technologies, ensuring alignment with security and cloud policies, and strategic migration towards Cloud. 
•    Supports project delivery across portfolio by taking point on Technology Feasibility Assessments, participating in design reviews, and acting as technical lead on major projects related to customer-facing technologies. 
•    Develops strategies, frameworks, and approaches for enterprise-wide systems to align with and influence business needs. 
•    Analyzes marketplace, industry, company, technology trends and best practices, vendor products and services, etc. to inform and influence business and IT direction. 
•    Drives definition of system and infrastructure specifications, interfaces, working parameters for hardware and/or software performance, function and compatibility. 
•    Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. 


BUSINESS LEADERSHIP COLLABORATION 
•    Works closely with senior business leadership to understand their challenges and business objectives, and to identify opportunities for new technologies to support their goals. 
•    Develops and maintains strong relationships with senior business leaders, including regular meetings and feedback sessions. 
•    Gathers feedback from business leaders on the effectiveness of current technologies and solutions and uses this feedback to inform future technology strategies and roadmaps. 
•    Collaborates with business leaders to develop business cases for new technologies and solutions, and to prioritize technology investments based on business value and return on investment. 
 

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field. 
•    12 years of directly relevant IT architecture experience. 
•    8 years of experience working in large-scale, heterogeneous IT environments. 
•    Ability to translate short- and long-range strategic plans for architecture into design and implementation of current and future applications. 
•    Has deep technical expertise in one or two technology domains, and broad understanding of how that technology supports Line of Business functions to deliver business value. 
•    Has the ability to influence with credibility across business functions or technologies with analysis (based on prior experience). 
•    Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language. 
•    Strong leadership, project and team building skills – ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally. 
•    Strong collaborator – willingness to share ideas, documentation and best practices. 
•    Conceptual and analytical thinker – ability to extract, analyze and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies from customers and IT team members. 
 

Desired Qualifications

•    MS or MBA degree in Computer Science, or related field. 
•    Prior utility industry work experience. 
•    Prior consulting experience with a top-tier IT consultancy. 
•    Formal supervisor/managerial experience. 
•    ITIL/ITSM v3 training and certification. 
•    PMI PMP Certification.

The pay range for this position is $146,000.00 - $257,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
