PSE's Customer Energy Mgmt & Renewables team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Energy Management Engineer III position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Sr. Energy Management Engineer to focus on the development and construction of energy efficiency projects for Federal customers. This position will support Federal customers through the Utility Energy Service Contract (UESC) program and manage multiple projects at a time.  Responsibilities will include project/construction management such as project planning, delegation, communication, contract management, and tracking.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

Specific duties include supporting the program lead with developing new projects and managing all phases of UESC projects throughout the service territory. A typical project development and execution process follows this path: meet with customers to discuss the UESC program, perform high-level site visits, conduct energy audits, identify energy efficiency opportunities, conduct energy savings calculations, internal & external contracting activities, manage & coordinate design and construction processes, and perform Measurement & Verification (M&V).


We want you to work closely with customers to develop and manage projects that produce sustained energy savings and energy resiliency. This may include specific activities such as: evaluating energy usage data; performing energy audits; preparing contracting documents; soliciting sub-contractors and/or ESCOs for partnership opportunities; preparing bid packages; writing and reviewing contracts; managing design and construction projects; reviewing engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.); writing performance assurance plans; managing post-acceptance M&V activities. You will be responsible for project scope, budget, schedule, and communications management, and will also collaborate with other team members to develop program materials and engineering analysis templates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering field
  • Substantial experience in energy efficiency project planning, design, specification review, technical field work, project cost estimating (typically achieved after 5 or more years practice as a degreed engineer). Years of acquired experience is provided as a guide and alone does not constitute readiness for job level as individual’s skill acquisition rates can vary significantly.
  • Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Experience leading energy efficiency projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Subject matter expert in electrical or mechanical aspects of energy efficiency

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in aspects of program development, including understanding both internal and external processes necessary to market, sell, deliver, verify and track energy efficiency project activity
  • Customer service experience
  • Utility industry experience
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering License and CEM or other energy credentials
