PSE's Internal Audit team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Staff Internal Auditor position!
Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is the largest and most established energy company in the Northwest. Internal Audit brings value to the organization by evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of management’s controls, identifying significant business risks, highlighting potential improvements to operational efficiencies, and reporting any significant risk and/or control gaps to management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.    


The Staff Internal Auditor will plan and conduct internal audits and consulting engagements of various departments and key processes within PSE. The auditor will perform these engagements with guidance from the Internal Audit Supervisor and Internal Audit management while working within the department’s engagement framework and following the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards (i.e., the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing).


The auditor will be someone looking to grow and develop their career and will assist PSE in implementing best business practices while encouraging innovation and dedication to customer service and safety. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the execution of the annual/flex audit plan by performing internal audits and consulting engagements of various departments or key processes.
  • Reviews transactions, documents, records, procedures, etc.
  • Reviews and tests internal controls.
  • Develops audit objectives, audit programs, and test procedures.
  • Analyzes financial data.
  • Conducts research on company policies and procedures.
  • Prepares concise and clear audit work papers.
  • Conducts meetings and documents meeting minutes.
  • Prepares audit reports.
  • Coordinates and leads audits over less complex areas.
  • Completes audit plans within policies and procedures prescribed by management and in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
  • Communicates effectively and displays dedication to customer service.
  • Work primarily under the direction of department leadership, but also expected to work independently as needed.
  • Provide support to the Internal Audit team and others as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding attention to details, problem solving, and analytical skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with Internal Audit Agile Methodologies.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with annual audit planning processes.
  • Familiarity with audit management systems/tools.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
