PSE's IT Application Solutions team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr. Manager, Information Technology position!

Job Description

The Sr. IT Manager will lead our Operations Systems Applications teams. This is a manager-of-managers role, providing application support to Electric Operations, Gas Operations, Energy Trading and Risk Management, and Meter Data Systems.

 

This position will play a critical role in technology operations and delivery at PSE leveraging a wide range of technologies including SCADA, Outage Management, Advanced Distribution Management System, Meter Data Warehouse, Mobile Field Workforce systems, GIS and multiple ETRMS platforms. The Operations Systems team partners with the business and other IT teams to ensure the technologies stay current and operate efficiently for the company.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proven knowledge of information technologies and methodologies related to assigned IT segment or area
  • 10 years experience managing or leading teams (some could include consulting) in strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT system, application, infrastructure service or other technology areas.
  • Demonstrates:
    • Strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
    • Competency in project management discipline and the execution of multiple and/or large projects.
    • Leadership with multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups.
    • Successful development and implementation of new technologies.
    • Competency in business processes, and process improvements.
    • Competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Demonstrated management and decision making skills concerning information systems policies, processes and procedures with proven track record of completing tasks and/or projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially with non-technical managers. Solid oral and written communications skills. An ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills that can be applied to multiple domains and enterprise-wide.
  • Exceptional negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for information technology, and solid work ethic are expected.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or other advanced degree.
  • 7 or more years of experience in an IT support environment and 4 more years of technical experience in software development and configuration.
  • Experience with project and software development, DevOps, or Agile methodologies.
  • Strong background in Project Management and execution.
  • SCADA, Outage Management, ETRMS, Meter Data, and GIS experience are all desirable.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to and apply changing technology to business needs, developing and delivering projects using (where appropriate) leading-edge technology.
  • Dynamic leadership that can develop and energize multidiscipline, high-performance work teams to learn and apply new skills/techniques to business needs.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business and business processes; strong business planning skills.
  • Successful implementation of a Center of Excellence at a large company.
  • Broad range of technology support and 24x7x365 event monitoring knowledge/skills.
  • Experience with procurement of hardware and software.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Prior experience with enterprise monitoring and triage skills.
  • Deep knowledge of common troubleshooting procedures.
