PSE's Customer & System Projects team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Performance Analyst position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy’s Resource Management and Performance department is looking for a Senior Performance Analyst to join our team.  

This position will be part of a team of analysts who are focused on taking a data-driven approach in assisting our Customer & System Projects department to develop best practices, continuously improve our processes, and encourage innovation with the goal of enriching our staff and our customer’s experience. This 3-year-old team delivers projects that generate tools, dashboards, reports, and documents to enable the business to run efficiently. C&SP relies on these products to efficiently manage the business in terms of resource planning, project management, and customer service.

This position:

  • Plays a lead role in analyzing, trending, forecasting, and tracking business areas performance in support of business transformation initiatives that result in organizational change. 
  • Uses process improvement techniques to understand the inputs, outputs, and overall end-to-end business processes.  
  • Directs statistical, financial, or operation studies to support initiatives and may lead process improvement and change management support of large and medium sized projects. 
  • Trains/mentors others on process improvement and change management practices and techniques.
Job Responsibilities
  • Work with leadership and business areas to evaluate requirements, develop and present strategic and tactical recommendations and may implement data driven decisions and strategies. 
  • Mentor staff and other team members and may provide input on performance review
  • Provides coaching, direction and support to team members in order to achieve employee, business and customer results.
  • Trains/mentors/coaches and challenges leaders, project sponsors/champions, project team members and all employees in the use of various organizational change management strategies and techniques to raise awareness and desire of effective planning and execution throughout the organization. 
  • Analyze and track data trends in support of performance improvement initiatives and goals.
  • Document standard processes using the principals of Lean Six Sigma.
  • Participates in collaborative teamwork efforts to improve day-to-day operations and meet SQIs as mandated by the WUTC, other department key indicators, and corporate goals.
  • Work as integral part of performance team to provide analytically based data, recommendations, and trends to support initiative success.
  • Learn and become proficient with PSE data warehouses and reporting tools. Including, but not limited to SAP Query Designer, SAP Web Intelligence, Tableau, Power BI, CISCO, HANA, Bex Analyzer and Analysis for Excel.
  • Use sophisticated analytics and statistical methods to study and analyze available data and to determine trends, root cause, metrics, leading and lagging indicators.
  • Develop reports, dashboards and other tools for daily/weekly/monthly performance tracking.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of methodology, metrics, analysis, and documentation. 
  • Communicate with leadership, business areas and SMEs to evaluate requirements, develop and present recommendations and implement data driven decisions and strategies.
  • Create clear and realistic project expectations, plans and deliverables.
  • Map/document current and future state processes for analysis and process improvement measures/training.
  • Knowledge share/training of team members to ensure no single point of failure.
  • Provide support for other departmental and corporate priorities and projects. 
  • 24/7 business continuity support for emergencies. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or technology; or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 5 years’ experience leading and utilizing process improvement or change management techniques/tools.
  • Five years of experience in combining, manipulating, analyzing and visualizing different data sets to drive business decisions. Tools may include Access, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Business Objects, Hadoop, SQL Server, or SAP Query Designer.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using various analytical techniques to study and recommend business actions. May include linear regression, monte carlo simulation, distribution analysis, forecasting, etc.
  • Experience using a variety of business applications and analysis tools such as Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP modules.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Green Belt Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies or equivalent experience and education.
  • Experience in understanding business process relationship with data analysis and metrics.
  • Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effective to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment on multiple projects.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as a part of a team to drive results.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills.
  • Experience managing small projects and teams to achieve a business need.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels with the ability to present information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prepare and present to the director/executive level.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision and/or goal.
