PSE's IT Architecture team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr IT Enterprise Architect position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy (PSE), the largest energy utility in Washington, is seeking to fill a Sr. IT Enterprise Architect position focused on Enterprise Architecture capabilities. This position is part of IT Architecture team which is part of IT organization.


Join our exciting IT Enterprise Architecture Practice at PSE. We are working on several strategic initiatives such as renewable energy, clean energy, grid modernization, utility digital transformation and many more. This role will have the opportunity to lead the technology architecture for many projects critical to the company’s future.  We have a strategic initiative which has four main focus areas: CETA Implementation, Natural Gas De-carbonization, Customer Solutions and Regulatory enablement. Be a part of and help us achieve PSE’s Beyond Net Zero Carbon goals.


In addition to this you will be advancing the Enterprise Architecture discipline across the company.  This entails working with all areas of the company on strategic roadmaps, aligning business value with technology investments, and identifying where to focus architecture resources for maximum benefit.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide Architecture leadership for inter-program and inter project technology prioritizing, sequencing, selection and solution decisions
  • Communicate and promote Enterprise Architecture practice cross IT and business
  • Establish and maintain contacts within IT and with business units to understand business drivers, requirements, solutions strategies and alternatives
  • Conduct on-going research and assessment of new technologies and approaches for potential use in the Enterprise
  • Create, update and maintain Enterprise Architecture deliverables
  • Serve as an advisor to business and  IT management on technology strategies
  • Support enterprise architecture transformation
  • Develop technology strategies taking into consideration technology trends, vendor strategies, products and customer preferences
  • Contribute and influence
  • Mentor, coach and guide other architects, technical leads and subject matter experts


Development or Coordination of following deliverables:

  • Develop the Enterprise Architecture
  • Coordinate Enterprise Architecture activities
  • Assist in aligning business and enterprise initiatives with Enterprise Architecture
  • Audit solutions for compliance with Enterprise Architecture Standards
  • Compile, deliver and evangelize IT Technology Roadmaps
  • Deliver secure and robust Solution architecture
  • Lead and drive technology selection


Key competencies:

  • Understand relationships between various models
  • Develop methods and techniques for modeling technologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.
  • 15 years of IT architecture experience.
  • 10 years’ experience working in a large-scale, heterogeneous IT environment.
  • Ability to translate short- and long-range strategic plans for architecture into design and implementation of current and future applications.
  • Has deep technical expertise in three or more technology domains, and broad understanding of how that technology is used across multiple business functions, in multiple industries, to deliver business value.
  • Is able to influence with credibility across multiple business functions or technologies with limited analysis (based on prior experience).
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Strong leadership, project and team building skills – ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally.
  • Strong collaborator – willingness to share ideas, documentation and best practices.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinker – ability to extract, analyze and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies from customers and IT team members.

Desired Qualifications

  • MS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Familiar with using modeling tools such as BizzDesign, Mega, ArchiMate etc.
  • Experience with clean energy, grid modernization, digital customer experience, Customer relationship management systems, complex utility billing, gas & electric SCADA technologies 
  • Certified in TOGAF
  • Practical experience with NERC CIP,TSA,SOX, FERC and other utilities regulations
  • Demonstrate a bias for action and apply iterative thinking and approach.
  • Current on Enterprise Architecture trends and technologies.
  • Familiar with Agile Practices.
