PSE's Resource Acquisition & Risk Control team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Commercial Development Manager position!

Job Description

Sr. Commercial Development Manager is involved in all stages of the process to identify and execute long-term energy resource acquisitions.  This includes assisting in the design of All-Source RFPs and other resource solicitations, evaluating resource proposals, and negotiating power purchase and ownership agreements.  Role is involved in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of energy resources and is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams to evaluate benefits and risks. Sr. Commercial Development Manager will work closely with legal and other advisors during negotiations and will create management presentations to support long-term energy resource decisions. Effectively managing contemporaneous documentation to support inclusion of energy resource acquisitions in PSE’s future rate cases is a must.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads strategy development and implementation plans for presentation to senior management on value added projects and programs (including, but not limited to, renewable energy, battery storage, pumped storage, and liquefied natural gas).
  • Leads implementation of project plans across multi-disciplinary project teams; includes creating and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and action items.
  • Conducts or manages business, operational, financial, and policy level analyses needed to evaluate potential projects and programs while considering PSE’s current position and how best to maximize the value of current energy resource assets through new programs and initiatives.  Work includes analysis to quantify the impact of prospective state or federal policy changes.
  • Leads external representative(s) on assigned projects and programs, including identifying, negotiating, and managing partner relationships and commercial contracts.
  • Collaborates with long-term resource and planning groups inside PSE to review asset acquisitions.  Analytic techniques include net present value, discounted cash flow, Monte Carlo simulations, goal seek, and charting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, economics, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
  • 5 years relevant work experience, including 3 years asset development and acquisition experience
  • Experience in the utility, oil, gas or independent power sector and experience in project development or commercial acquisitions
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact with all levels of an organization

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related field
  • Knowledge of project management principles, processes and techniques applied in a utility setting
  • Knowledge of tax incentives and energy deal structures
