PSE's IT Project Management Office team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Business Technology Analyst position!
Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Supports the technology system(s) across related organization to help maximize effective business processes and solutions. Analyzes, troubleshoots and implements key technology features to support the business in meeting goals and objectives as well as providing supporting implementation/changes that improve the efficiency of systems and technology. Provides complex technology support and solutions for users.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and supports cross-functional projects to improve/enhance/implement portfolio system solutions to business processes.
    • Collects and analyzes information from system users to identify business needs, challenges and opportunities. Establishes system specifications and objectives.
    • Assesses and documents business requirements, makes priority recommendations and advises on options, risks and costs. Provides recommendations to management and internal customers.
    • Is a subject matter expert for business requirements.
    • Collaborates with IT and business staff to design and implement new systems or system improvements/enhancements to support business processes including configuration, automation and integration with other systems.
    • Contribute to other change management knowledge, such as training content and release notes.
    • Assist the Product Owner with writing user stories and detailed acceptance criteria, interfacing with end users to understand requirements and translating requirements into configuration changes.
    • Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing. Coordinates cross-functionally on building test data and testing new/enhanced functionality including writing basic test plans and scripts.
    • Must adhere to support, change management and other team processes.
  • Leads in ensuring reliable system operation.
    • Performs higher level technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
    • Coordinates with IT and business staff and/or vendors to resolve problems.
    • Collaborate with IT staff to evaluate and test system changes including new releases, patches, hot fixes, etc.
    • Performs system work as needed, such as modifying menus, databases and spreadsheet outputs for analysis and troubleshooting, exporting and importing files into databases and building custom reports for users.
    • Assists with management of vendor support agreements as necessary.
  • Responsible for writing/preparing and maintaining associated technical documentation and developing/providing training to guide system users.
  • Participates in vendor evaluation, especially RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal) and quality function deployment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may substitute.
  • 7 years’ related experience including enterprise business systems, business requirements management and diagramming, use case development (UML – unified modeling language).
  • Project management experience specifically related to business process and/or re-engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to effectively communicate complex information.
  • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of JAD techniques.

Desired Qualifications

  •  Ability to facilitate JAD (Joint Application Design) sessions.
  • Working knowledge of Hexagon PPM platform
  • Working knowledge of Agile SCRUM processes
  • Working knowledge with SAP finance solutions including ECC and BPC
  • Working knowledge of PowerPlan and ServiceNow
  • Working knowledge with SAP IS-U integration with ECC and CRM.
  • Utility industry experience.
