PSE's Financial Planning & Analysis team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Budget Analyst position!

Job Description

Consolidates and reviews budgets from corporate or organizational units. Works with management at all levels throughout PSE in developing realistic budgets; providing timely and accurate financial analyses; and developing accurate financial and statistical projections.  Prepares regular and special-purpose reports, maintains historical records, analyzes trends, establishes cost rates and personnel forecasts, recommends and interprets budgetary policies and procedures, prepares comparative evaluation of actual costs against budgeted funds, and determines rationale for variances between costs and budget.

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides critical budget and forecast information, analysis and documentation for making strategic financial and resource allocation decisions.
  • Evaluates and analyzes financial results and proactively addresses issues and opportunities.
  • Assists in the implementation, testing and maintenance of software applications to facilitate accurate and efficient reporting, planning and analysis processes.
  • Partners with and provides support to budget planners in providing Monthly, Quarterly, YTD, Actual vs Last Year and budget variance analysis.
  • Aids management at all levels in controlling costs and in improving efficiency in the utilization of the organization's resources.
  • Advises and provides technical assistance in preparing budgets, providing training, direction, and assistance to less experienced staff, as requested.
  • Works on cross-functional teams to develop forecast information.
  • Conducts, coordinates and participates in complex financial projects, as requested.
  • Rate Case data request support.
  • Calculates and implements corporate overhead rates.
  • Subject matter experts on SAP planning module – includes testing and implementing new/updated versions of software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in business, accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal or written) effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in SAP, Cognos PowerPlay and Contributor.
  • Knowledge of FERC and Utility accounting procedures.
