PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr Accountant position!

Job Description

Performs complex accounting and analysis functions, under general direction. Participates in daily and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.  Ensures SOX procedures and controls are being complied with and working according to documentation. Ensures customer satisfaction and continual improvement of processes. Provides guidance and training to lower level staff.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complex accounting, analysis and/or billing functions.
  • Prepares, evaluates, and maintains data computed using complex financial analysis models.
  • Evaluates and implements changes related to regulatory and GAAP compliance.
  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles accounts.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the general ledger and/or other automated systems and databases.Reviews the work of other accountants.
  • Prepares and reviews internal, external, and regulatory financial reports.
  • Responds to requests received from management and other departments and represents the department at company meetings.
  • Leads or participates on special projects/research within the department.
  • Complies with internal controls and actively updates and tests SOX 404 procedures.
  • May act as a subject matter expert.
  • Provides training and guidance to less experienced staff and cross-trains with other staff members.
  • Company & Industry Acumen - Consistently applies industry knowledge when developing analysis; understands the key stakeholders are and circulates findings accordingly; leverages knowledge to drive cross-functional solutions.

Manages time to create capacity to focus on value added work.  Ensures individual knowledge and skills are up to date with current industry standards and actively shares knowledge with others.
  • Strategic – Uses strategic thinking and critical reasoning to create solutions and drive value within business and team to meet strategic objectives.
  • Influence – Uses analysis to provide cross-functional feedback that supports and drives business decisions.
  • Leadership - Leads by example, provides guidance and may assist with training of junior staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years of directly relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and technical application 
  • Strong ability to effectively analyze and report on financial information 
  • Strong verbal and written skills 
  • Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access) 

Desired Qualifications

  • Leadership, mentorship, and coaching skills 
  • Experience with SAP 
  • Certified Management Accountant or candidate 
  • Advanced Degree
