PSE's Legal team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Paralegal position!

Job Description

PSE is seeking a highly organized and motivated Senior Paralegal to handle large-scale, complex legal matters and train and mentor junior staff. This role will work on high-stakes cases and transactions and support federal, state, and administrative proceedings. The ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment is crucial for this role.


The successful candidate will have deep expertise in specific legal areas, particularly environmental law and state and federal energy regulations and must be well-versed in conducting in-depth legal and fact research. They must be proficient in organizing records and managing information and data collection, including eDiscovery, and adept at analyzing discovery requests, maintaining crucial case files, and handling sensitive legal records. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of privacy and data security rules. Experience conducting witness interviews and knowledge of data forensics is a significant plus. This Senior Paralegal must be an experienced professional who is passionate about junior staff development. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys or outside counsel with ongoing legal work.
  • Proof and finalize all manner of documents, including correspondence, contracts, filings, and pleadings.
  • Conduct intermediate to advanced research involving federal, state, and local government agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Support the litigation process:
    • Coordinate with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
    • Draft basic pleadings under the supervision of an attorney, such as answers to complaints and discovery responses.
    • Gather internal documents and manage document productions.
  • Support administrative hearings and regulatory proceedings:
    • Review, edit, and finalize written filings.
    • Research and document responses to regulatory requests for information.
    • Coordinate and assist in drafting testimony.
    • Organize, track, and file regulatory materials.
  • Gather, organize, and manage responses to subpoenas and data requests.
  • Mentor and train junior paralegals and contribute to process improvements.
  • Understand and uphold regulatory privacy obligations and the confidentiality of all customer, personnel, and privileged information.
  • Interact and build relationships with internal clients and external resources.
  • Demonstrate commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically, and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years’ paralegal experience or equivalent.
  • Has or is working towards a paralegal degree.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise judgment when escalation is needed.
  • Proficient with legal research programs (e.g., Westlaw) and court or regulatory processes.
  • Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Expert with document management systems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Legal experience working in a utility or corporate setting, or with an energy firm.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related law field.
  • Intermediate to advanced legal research skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and local court rules.

The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
