PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Financial Reporting Technical Accountant position!

Job Description

Performs complex accounting and analysis functions, with minimal supervision. Participates in daily and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.  Ensures SOX procedures and controls are being complied with and working according to documentation. Performs technical accounting research. 

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complex accounting and analysis functions.
  • Technical accounting research and evaluation and interpretation of accounting pronouncements and SEC regulations.
  • Prepares and/or reviews consolidated financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Reviews the work of other accountants.
  • Prepares internal, external, and regulatory financial reports as related to the financial statements.
  • Responds to requests received from management and other departments and represent the department at company meetings.
  • Leads or participates on special projects/research within the department.
  • Complies with internal controls and actively update SOX 404 procedures.
  • May act as a subject matter expert.
  • Provides training and guidance to less experienced staff.

  • Leadership - Provides guidance, assists in training, and delegates within department.  Responsible for leading departmental and cross-functional project teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • 5+ years of directly relevant accounting experience; or Certified Public Accountant designation with 3 years relevant experience at a major Public Accounting firm such as developing technical accounting memorandums, directing the work of staff accountants and directly supporting the development of staff accountants.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting application and research experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and coaching skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access)
  • Certified Public Accountant

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP 
  • Prior experience in utility industry 
  • Certified Management Accountant or candidate 
  • Advanced Degree
