PSE's Legal and Environmental & Prog Svcs Mgt team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Environmental Scientist position!

Job Description

Directs the design, implementation, analysis, and/or management of detailed environmental activities to fulfill Company objectives and programs.  Formulates programs to conduct, review, and monitor assigned compliance activities associated with environmental regulations for construction and operation of company facilities.  Creates and conducts environmental training and builds processes to maintain compliance with various environmental regulations (including, but not limited to waste, hazardous material and SPCC).   Coordinates the collection and reporting of data to support sustainabilty reporting and benchmarking.  Technical work may include resource planning and/or the performance of complex statistical analysis and modeling tasks.  Conducts work in inter-disciplinary teams designed to accomplish departmental and inter-departmental objectives. Coordinates work with personnel from operations and other departments.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conducts agency coordination and consultation as a representative of PSE. 
  • Develops standard operating procedures, documents programmatic evaluations, secures appropriate permits and/or regulatory approvals, and conducts other administrative duties in support of company environmental programs and operations.
  • Performs and coordinates a wide variety of complex environmental analyses in cross discipline areas and design tasks in the plant and office settings.
  • Prepares and manages projects and supervises consultants in project support.
  • Develops compliance reports and programmatic compliance functions, and maintains records and documentation to support compliance audits.
  • Develops and maintains tools for managing daily and annual operating records for operations facilities.
  • Provides clear reporting and documentation of assigned activities.
  • Supports budget development and tracking.
  • Supports sustainability program tracking and reporting.
  • Provides support for other departmental administrative activities, initiatives, and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or Master’s Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, Engineering, Anthropology, Mathematics, or similar with 7 or more years of experience in the field (four years of appropriate additional experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree).
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and Access, or industry equivalent software applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • BS or Master’s in physical sciences or engineering preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with electric or gas industry, or similar.
  • Experience implementing environmental compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste, RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA and SPCC regulations.
  • Experience in sustainability benchmarking or programs.
