PSE's Resource Acquisition & Risk Control team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Energy Acquisitions Analyst position!

Job Description

The Senior Energy Acquisitions Analyst develops and maintains models to analyze and support long-term energy resource acquisition decisions and create detailed financial proformas. Analyst will perform scenario analysis to stress test resource alternatives and create contemporaneous documentation to support inclusion of energy resource acquisitions in PSE’s future rate cases. This role will also develop and build interdepartmental consensus on analytical approaches and related critical assumptions that will shape the Company’s participation in long-term energy markets including policy issues that will impact the Company’s long-term resource strategy. Effective communication of analytical methods, assumptions, and results with key external stakeholders to lay the foundation for recovering costs of future resource acquisitions is a must.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops comprehensive financial models and various ad-hoc strategic analyses using spreadsheets. 
  • Visualizes complex energy, financial, and modeling data and be able to tell the data story to broad stakeholder groups in simple terms.
  • Plans and performs long-term resource analysis to support resource decisions using production cost and long-term capacity expansion models such as Aurora and Plexos.
  • Serves as task lead for preparation of financial forecasts related to revenue requirements, operating expenses, capital expenditures, EBITDA, net income for resource acquisition and integration candidates. 
  • Coordinates with internal teams to perform power cost, margin and risk analysis for resource acquisitions. 
  • Promotes best practices of modeling techniques, methodologies, controls and documentation. 
  • Develops consensus around analytical approaches and cultivates ties across business groups. 
  • Identifies and develops means to address critical energy policy issues that may affect the Company’s long-term resource strategy.
  • Effectively communicates results of research and analyses both written and in presentations.
  • Works with external stakeholders to develop consensus around resource planning issues and effectively communicates acquisition issues.
  • Analyze financial impacts of accounting and tax rule treatment for energy resource acquisitions including tax incentives and depreciation 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in energy related industry involving performance of complex analysis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • Experience building complex spreadsheets to analyze questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be supportive team member.
  • Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • Experience using Aurora or other models used for long-term resource planning and/or acquisition.
  • Experience performing statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving abilities.
  • Experience analyzing risk.
  • Experience creating and using database applications to support analysis.
