PSE's Corporate Communications team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Outreach Manager position!

Job Description

Responsible for designing and implementing an integrated customer outreach plan to achieve appropriate customer involvement and adoption of PSE products and services. Works with Energy Efficiency and Products and Services teams to ensure appropriate contribution to program targets are achieved through community channels. Responsible for the execution of regional customer outreach strategies through partnership creation and in coordination with other corporate initiatives.


Collaborates with other teams to raise the visibility of products and services within PSE communities, in a manner consistent with overall corporate objectives as stated in the Integrated Strategic Plan. Partners with community groups to create and execute programs that meet community and PSE goals.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-faceted interdisciplinary outreach projects that include managing and directing the deliverables of internal stakeholders to achieve program outreach goals.
  • Takes the lead on the outreach component of high profile corporate initiatives to design comprehensive customer outreach strategies that will be implemented by the Outreach Team at the local level.
  • Develop local direct-to-customer outreach plans for assigned communities for all appropriate PSE products and services in conjunction with marketing and other internal partners to complement the trade ally and mass market promotion efforts.
  • Design assigned program-specific outreach plan (including ideas for outreach tactics) for company’s entire service area that will be implemented by outreach colleagues.
  • Serving as a senior member of the team, act as liaison between more complex PSE programs and the rest of the outreach team. Designs strategy and ensures all elements of local implementation by outreach team.
  • In conjunction with program teams, design outreach strategies for the hard to reach customers in assigned area (low income, tribal, seniors, etc.).
  • Build strategic relationships to establish local support/understanding of company mission and business objectives. Creates opportunities for a two-way dialogue between community and PSE.
  • Work as an integral member of a cross-departmental team in support of a wide array of public policy and local government affairs programs and initiatives.
  • Leads monthly regional collaboration meetings to ensure coordinated community engagement approach across multiple departments.
  • Work collaboratively to develop a cross-department team to provide a consistent set of practices/protocols for communication with customers and communities in support of wide array of programs and initiatives.
  • As needed, deliver presentations to a variety of organizations to increase participation in existing products and services and/or raise awareness and visibility in new, high profile corporate campaigns or initiatives.
  • During emergency events, supports corporate crisis response efforts at a local level to provide accurate and timely information on PSE emergency response. Carries out PSE's corporate messaging on natural gas/electric safety and emergency preparedness to internal and external customers.
  • Supports emergency and storm duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, sustainable business, public relations, or commensurate experience or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • 7 years’ experience in external relationship marketing and business development.
  • Experienced in representing various sensitive corporate positions.
  • Strong project manager who engages “hands-on” activities 
  • Skilled in uncovering hidden “story” potential for working through corporate communications group to launch earned media effort.
  • Ability to work successfully with external stakeholders and communities representing diverse interests.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external constituents, utilize creative thinking and identify opportunities and solve problems. 
  • Skilled at driving, implementing and overseeing projects or plans as well as setting and reporting on measurable goals.
  • Able to work independently, but also contribute to the overall team goals, while embracing a shared vision.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable energy, corporate responsibility and sustainability.
  • Marketing, product marketing, sales and/or fundraising experience a plus.
  • Experience using digital social media platforms to network and build relationships.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
