PSE's Policy & Energy Supply team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Mgr Power Supply Operations position!

Job Description

Manages PSE's team that supports Front Office technology solutions as they pertain to physical and financial trading and scheduling activities for the Core Power and Core Gas portfolios.  Strives to automate and streamline workflows to support PSE’s reliable and cost-effective operations.  Supports Front Office/Trading and establishes internal and external relationships with application developers and vendors.  Responsible for overall architecture for Front Office applications, as well as, maintaining vendor relationships.

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Employee Safety, Development & Team Building - Providing employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
    • Demonstrates a passion for safety. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety including eliminating at- risk behaviors by conducting safety audits and inspections, eliminating hazards and near misses, and attending safety meetings.
    • Sets clear expectations and holds employees accountable for performance as well as safety goals/targets where applicable.
    • Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Ensures required training is successfully completed.
    • Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results.
    • Accountable to ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements, as well as safety standards.
    • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
    • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve employee, business, customer, and safety results.
  • Co-chairs weekly trading floor staff meetings with peer Managers
  • Focuses on technical aspects of operational issues affecting workflows and Front Office outcomes
  • Works collaboratively with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) technology team(s), PSE Dispatch & Transmission, Electric Resource Planning, Long Term Power Supply management, Energy Production, Major Accounts, Accounting, Risk Control and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Oversees capital portfolio planning and prioritization of technology investments aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
  • 4 years in energy trading or operations.
  • 2 years natural gas or power trading experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pacific Northwest gas and power energy infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regional gas pipeline infrastructure, regional basis trading, gas storage inventory management and pipeline imbalance management.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating fundamental market trends, assessing forward market prices and developing hedging strategies.

Desired Qualifications

  • In-depth experience with energy trading and risk management applications
  • Experience supporting an energy trading operation in a business analyst and/or application management role
