Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is seeking candidates for a Manager, Business Technology, to lead the Supply Chain Strategy and Supplier Risk Management team. This role supports a company strategic priority to identify and manage Third Party Risk (TPR) throughout the Supply Chain.  


The Supply Chain Strategy and Supplier Risk Management organization is a newly formed group that will provide a framework for greater visibility into PSE and supplier performance, ensure quality and standards compliance, minimize exposure to supply chain disruption and reduce risk to core gas, electric and generation services.  The Supplier Risk Management organization also encompasses supplier reporting, data analytics and other supply chain strategic business initiatives.

Be part of this organization which will create, streamline and enhance supplier management functions in partnership with internal PSE stakeholders and suppliers. The role will be familiar with business operations, strategies, data requirements, and priorities used to develop, implement and run supplier risk management operations.  With a small team of direct reports, this role will require hands-on involvement in the program design, priorities and implementation of large technology initiatives.  

Job Responsibilities

•    Employee Safety, Development & Team Building - Providing employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
-    Demonstrates a passion for safety. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety including eliminating at-risk behaviors by conducting safety audits and inspections, eliminating hazards and near misses, and attending safety meetings.
-    Sets clear expectations and holds employees accountable for performance as well as safety goals/targets where applicable.
-    Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Ensures required training is successfully completed.
-    Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results. 
-    Accountable to ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements, as well as safety standards. 
-    Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
-    Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve employee, business, customer and safety results.
•    Responsible to research and recommend system solutions across the business organization.
-    Systems process analysis.
-    Identification of impacting, emerging technology issues.
-    Requirements design and definition.
-    Workflow analysis.
-    Road-mapping activities.
•    Responsible for delivery of projects related to technology initiatives and associated ongoing system maintenance and planning.
-    Promotes project management practices.
-    Provides training and developmental support/feedback.
-    Reviews project proposals and ensures engagement with all required stakeholders.
-    Participates in cross-functional teams both in a leadership and participant role to develop appropriate solutions.
-    Vendor management and contract compliance/guidance.
•    Responsible for business unit’s ongoing and implemented initiatives.
-    Liaison with IT and business unit on complex issues/problems and major enhancements. Manages system design/maintenance/upkeep.
-    Ensures technical specifications met and available resources where/when necessary.
-    Performs on-going assessments to ensure opportunities are identified, evaluated, prioritized and reviewed.
-    Ensures test plans and coordination of business user testing.
-    Oversees internal response to system issues/outages/breaks.
•    Responsible for workforce management functions for departments across the organization and promotes cross organization resources.
•    Facilitates development and growth of beneficial business relationships with strategic technology or business partners.
•    Plans and oversees resource allocation across different functional areas of the business organization.
•    Responsible for planning and implementation for emergency situations.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may substitute.
  • 7 years’ related experience including process design, re-engineering and requirements documentation methodologies.
  • Experience with business requirements, diagramming and use case development (UML – unified modeling language)
  • Experience with large/enterprise information systems, such as SAP CRM or other customer systems, and software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Expertise in business case development for large complex projects.
  • Effective use of analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to effectively communicate complex information.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively communicate with various levels of an organization and customer base.
  • Strong business acumen including ability to organize/prioritize/evaluate work and within budget constraints.
  • Strong teamwork, coaching, and organizational skills and an aptitude for process improvement.
  • Ability to interpret/use/translate applicable statistical/business/operational data in order to make effective business decisions and/or produce metrics.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional certification.
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Working knowledge with SAP IS-U integration with ECC and CRM.
