Job Description

Investigates all incidents of crime reported to Puget Sound Energy (PSE) Corporate Security. Conducts investigations in cooperation with local and federal law enforcement agencies and reports and makes recommendations to prevent or reduce the risk or threat to employees and company assets.


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.


Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct.  Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Investigates known or suspected, suspicious, threatening or criminal activity and provides investigative support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies on local, state and federal levels.
  • Documents incidents into the Corporate Security reporting system (ReportExec).
  • Observing and documenting trends in type, causes, and consequences of incidences and making recommendations to the Corporate Security Manager regarding ways to prevent or mitigate consequences through proactive incident management.
  • Conducting in depth interviews with witnesses, involved parties, and persons of interest.
  • Leading critical, confidential, and time sensitive investigations of high profile incidences involving company personnel and assets.
  • Conducting multiple investigations concurrently, making independent decisions, and providing direction/recommendations through the conclusion of an investigation.
  • Investigate crime scenes with investigative experience.
  • Provide executive protection services to company leadership and Board of Directors when needed.
  • Assist in the security planning of special events involving company leadership.
  • Be available 24/7 to respond to security incidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of federal, state, local law enforcement, or corporate security investigation experience.
  • Experience leading low to high profile multiple concurrent investigations.
  • Experience in investigative techniques and methods.
  • Experience in analyzing information to determine issue, violation, cause, and corrective action.
  • Experience in preparing concise investigation reports.
  • Experience providing executive protection services.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, perform and communicate activities in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to self-manage time and workload to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel on foot and/or vehicle through difficult terrain.
  • Training in interviewing techniques (Wicklander-Zulawski, Reid) or similar course.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, or Police Science
  • SCAN training
  • Knowledge of the utility industry
  • Experience working in a company with represented employees
  • PCI or other investigative-related certifications
