PSE's VP Clean Energy Strategy team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Hydrogen Strategy Development Manager position!

Job Description

PSE’s Strategic Implementation Office (SIO) is working to build a clean energy future through the PSE 2030 initiative. By 2030, PSE will have a carbon neutral electric supply will reduce customer emissions from our natural gas business by 30% while balancing safety, sustainability, reliability and affordability. The SIO is seeking a hydrogen strategy development manager to assist in strategic planning and partnership activities. This position plays a critical role in recommending strategy and developing plans that integrate with PSE’s existing business and support delivery of our decarbonization goals. 


The Hydrogen Strategy Development Manager leads the evaluation and development of hydrogen generation, usage, and partnership opportunities for PSE. Position includes management of internal cross-functional teams and external consulting resources. Serves as an authoritative representative to internal and external audiences on technical, regulatory, policy, financial and market conditions for green hydrogen.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as internal subject matter expert for hydrogen generation and usage within PSE’s energy systems.
  • Develops and champions business strategies to achieve PSE’s long term decarbonization goals using green hydrogen.
  • Leads or participates in all facets of hydrogen strategy development, including the coordination of key opportunities and interaction with energy supply, engineering, finance, government relations and operations.  Collaborates with internal departments to collect business data to complete timely analysis.
  • Develops business cases based on business analytics and competitive intelligence.
  • Performs business modeling to optimize business functionality and performance.
  • Identifies challenges and opportunities, current trends, emerging applications in the marketplace, and partnership opportunities. Anticipates future needs of a decarbonized utility.
  • Develops presentations to senior management, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboratively builds and maintains strong relationships with entrepreneurs, energy suppliers, regional utilities, customers, and government agencies.
  • Communicates effectively with individuals and groups and represents PSE in regional and national organizations and forums.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering or related field
  • 7 years’ experience in leading/implementing complex multi-disciplined market/program/product analysis, research, evaluation, or product launch
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver complex customer-facing products or projects
  • Excellent organizational, analysis, and problem solving skills including applying analysis and statistical methods to study complex and unique business issues.
  • Proven ability to lead or oversee financial modeling
  • Proven ability to identify and use advanced customer and marketing analytics
  • Proven project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to synthesize data and other information into clear, actionable deliverables
  • Ability to build trust and and value-based relationships with employees at all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation and analytical tools
