Job Description
The Grid Technology Development Manager position serves as the central coordination point for Puget Sound Energy's Grid Modernization new technology initiatives, overseeing a comprehensive portfolio of new technology projects, pilots, and programs. This role exists within PSE's Grid Modernization Strategy and Enablement team and is crucial in maintaining strategic oversight of emerging technology adoption while ensuring alignment with the company's grid modernization roadmap and business objectives.
This position will establish and maintain the New Technology Framework for continual improvement of pilots and new technology adoption processes. The role involves on portfolio health, risk management, and strategic technology assessment. The position will serve as the liaison between Grid Modernization engineers, project managers, and senior leadership, ensuring consistent application of technology evaluation and development and successful transition of approved technologies from development to operational implementation.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing technology portfolios, understanding of utility planning, engineering and operations, and proven ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups including IT, project managers, engineering teams, and senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities
- Provides updates and maintains comprehensive risk register on Grid Modernization New Technology Portfolio health, tracking existing projects, pilots, and programs
- Identifies and communicates technology risks to leadership, ensuring proactive risk mitigation strategies are implemented
- Establishes and manages the New Technology Library to track incoming requests and technologies that PSE is evaluating or has evaluated
- Develops and maintains new technology roadmaps through regular engagement with internal stakeholders and industry partners
- Owns and maintains the New Technology Framework for continual improvement of pilots and new technology adoption processes across the Grid Modernization portfolio
- Leads cross-functional coordination to ensure consistent application of new technology framework and success criteria across all technology initiatives
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with Project Managers from both IT and Infrastructure teams to ensure technology framework compliance
- Supports Grid Modernization engineers which can include business case development, pilot planning, securing financing, project management handoff, internal stakeholder engagement strategies and coordination
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering or related field
- 7 years’ experience in leading/implementing complex multi-disciplined market/program/product analysis, research, evaluation, or product launch
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver complex customer-facing products or projects
- Excellent organizational, analysis, and problem solving skills including applying analysis and statistical methods to study complex and unique business issues.
- Proven ability to lead or oversee financial modeling
- Proven ability to identify and use advanced customer and marketing analytics
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to synthesize data and other information into clear, actionable deliverables
- Ability to build trust and and value-based relationships with employees at all levels of internal and external organizations.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation and analytical tools
Desired Qualifications
• MBA or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology Management, or related field
• Experience in utility industry, particularly with grid modernization technologies
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex technical concepts to executive audiences
• Strong relationship-building skills with ability to work effectively with engineering teams, project managers, IT and senior leadership
• Knowledge of emerging grid technologies including automation, storage, distributed energy resources, smart meters, and analysis tools
• Experience with technology transition from pilot to operational implementation
• Professional certification in project management (PMP) or portfolio management
• Experience working with IT and Infrastructure project management teams
• Knowledge of utility regulatory environment and compliance requirements
• Experience with risk management frameworks and portfolio reporting methodologies

The pay range for this position is $104,500.00 - $174,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
