PSE's IT Project Management Office team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Energy Applications Intern position!

Job Description

You will have the opportunity to enhance your technical and communication skills, while learning the essential inner workings of PSE’s business environment. You will team up with our internal technology experts to work on high-value efforts to help shape the future of customer engagement, critical business area transformation, and critical infrastructure services such as mobility and cloud.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses problems, develops and implements environment solutions with oversight from a senior application development analyst.
  • Basic understanding of relevant business processes so that they can be modeled in internal systems.
  • With supervision, maintains or develops simple to moderately complex application components (analysis, design, development and implementation of solutions) based on functional requirements in environments.
  • Provides support to Business Analyst or Sr. Applications Developer in the coordination, facilitating interactive analysis and design sessions with representatives of business line and functional units.
  • Understands scope and process to gather/establish business requirements of new developments to meet changing business needs.
  • Accepts direction and supervision from team members, as required during the development cycle for assigned projects.
  • Helps organize user training programs.
  • Understands the overall IT strategy via direct experience in tactical projects and specific user requirements.
  • Assists Senior Application Developers in designing, configuring and implementing systems that support the company’s business and operational needs.
  • Writes functional requirements, develops test plans, and works with production issues.
  • Follows project and software development methodologies and processes.
  • Works collaboratively with internal Database Administrators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a Sophomore or higher pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or related field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good academic standing
  • A strong work ethic, initiative, and motivation
  • The ability to work well in a team environment
  • An interest in the utility sector
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages (C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
  • Active involvement in the community and or extracurricular activities
  • Previous intern experience
  • Familiarity, experience, and/or interest in engineering and energy trading

  • These are temporary positions anticipated to last through the summer in our Bellevue, Redmond, and/or Bothell locations
  • Information Technology Internships are for current students
