PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Chief Enterprise Architect position!

Job Description

The Chief Enterprise Architect (“Chief Architect”) contributes to PSE’s success by ensuring enterprise technology investments are made for optimal support of the business strategy and by planning for the evolution of the enterprise technology environment across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) domains. This position directs enterprise-wide technology strategy, planning, architecture, and strategic design efforts for enterprise technology. 

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Technology, the Chief Enterprise Architect leads the overall architecture practice for IT. Responsible for developing relationships with the Senior Leadership level across PSE, including the business and IT as well as thought leaders in other utilities and across the general IT industry to ensure PSE is kept in sync with best practices and relevant technology trends.

Job Responsibilities

•    Employee Safety, Development & Team Building - Providing employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams

•    Leads PSE’s Enterprise Architecture function which is composed of 3 primary responsibilities. 

•    The Chief Enterprise Architect will engage at all organizational levels within IT and throughout the business. This is a highly collaborative role, which must work closely and smoothly with the CIO and peers in IT and the business, all architects, IT solution deliver managers, IT portfolio managers, and IT Business Partners, to ensure that proposed technology solutions are technically and financially viable and designed to meet the needs of the business in efficient and effect manner. It requires a broad information technology background including experience in infrastructure, application development, package implementation and business alignment. 

•    Leads the IT Architecture function across all technology domains 

•    Plays a leading role in driving technology rationalization across IT and advocating reuse and standardization of technologies across IT. Provides leadership on special assignment projects or continuous improvement initiatives, to drive innovation, improved performance or lower risk. 
•    Develops and maintains strong relationships with constituent departments and strategic IT vendors. 
•    Leads efforts to architect very complex technical solutions, or solve very complex technical problems; coordinating with all necessary subject matter experts. 
•    Oversees the development and management of department budgets and select IT project budgets. 
•    Formulates and conducts presentations to PSE executives and to industry representatives. 

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering or related technical field, or relevant experience in lieu of degree. 
•    15 years of IT architecture and management experience with increasing responsibility in IT operations, planning, design and architecture, project management, and IT customer service. 
•    10 years demonstrated leadership skills, setting and managing goals, and a proven record leading cross-functional and technical teams. 
•    8+ years of enterprise architecture and broad exposure to multiple technologies 
•    Budgeting experience and general understanding of financial analysis for business case development. 
•    Experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise applications. 
•    Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain support with stakeholders who have conflicting opinions and diverse points of view. 
•    An understanding of utility operations, economics, business practices and trends. 
•    Strong problem solving and analytical skills to effectively and efficiently analyze a wide array of potential business challenges and solutions. 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with contractual counterparties, regulators and other industry participants. 
•    Ability to initiate and successfully lead change, establish an atmosphere of continuous improvement that embraces teamwork, meets customer needs, accepts responsibility and makes appropriate decisions for each situation. 
•    Ability to communicate technical information effectively with a variety of audiences. 
•    Ability to translate short and long-range strategic plans for enterprise-wide architecture into design and implementation of current and future applications and systems. 
•    Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language to all levels in the organization, including the executive team. 
•    Conceptual and analytical thinker – ability to extract, analyze and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies from customers and IT team members. 
•    Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience/training. 

Desired Qualifications

•    MBA, or Advanced degree in computer science or related field 
•    Advanced knowledge of program management, IT planning and portfolio Management, IT architectures across multiple technology domains such as Data Management, Infrastructure, Networks, and Applications 
•    Experience with SAP, Microsoft applications, Internet and intranet environments, billing and customer care systems, and data warehouses. 
•    Strong working knowledge of utility industry Operations Technology, such as Smart Grid, SCADA, EMS, Pipeline Control systems, GIS, OMS, DMS or similar.
