PSE's IT Application Solutions team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open App Configuration Analyst position!

Job Description

In ETRMS, we build and maintain tools that provide energy data for scheduling, trading, analysis and settlements of electricity and natural gas. Join our dynamic team and support IT changes for new energy sources as PSE meets our aggressive clean energy goals for the future. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing work on systems with complex interfaces and multiple technologies to ensure performance.
  • Implement and maintain computer applications including reviewing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and modifying program systems.
  • Configure moderately complex application changes (analysis, design, cost estimate and implementation of solutions) based on functional requirements for Energy Trading and Risk Management Systems (ETRMS) applications, interfaces and databases.
  • Test, debug, and document programs to improve system efficiency and/or functionality.
  • Perform 24-hour, on-call support on a rotating schedule after fully trained).
  • Diagnose problems, plan and implement ETRMS environment solutions with oversight from senior team members.
  • Serve as primary business contact for overall IT processes, policies, and provide general assistance and guidance when necessary.
  • Assist the team in providing operational support for all the business applications that the team owns.
  • Specify and apply testing and quality monitoring procedures of operating systems.
  • Act as administrator for business applications and perform SOX auditing work as required.  
  • Engage in communication with business users, perform requirements gathering and prepare well-documented business requests/requirements.
  • Review impacts to existing systems and reconfigure them to fulfill the needs of customers.
  • Provide consultation to internal customers regarding need assessments, alternatives, system requirements and reliability, implementation cost and schedules and internal/external resource requirements.
  • Assist with data integration, including interface design, data migration and data reconciliation.
  • Assist with project planning for assigned enhancements or capital project support, including scheduling, cost estimating, developing tests and training plans.
  • Understand and follow project and software development methodologies..
  • Is able to effectively work remote as needed or desired per the PSE Flexible workforce policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 or more years IT experience, including systems development experience in the design and development of department-wide or enterprise-wide applications.   
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one (specialized technical requirements as shown in technical addendum) functional module with knowledge of other modules and can resolve moderately complex production issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining scope and requirements of new developments to meet changing business requirements.
  • Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and conceptual skills. 
  • Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems.  Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in Electric or Gas Utility Industry.
  • Experience working with energy industry/ETRM tools such as ION Endur, Futrak, OATI WebTrader, OATI ETag, and Lacima.
  • Experience working with Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) applications such as CAISO (California Independent System Operator) Suite and PCI (Powercosts Inc) Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience using Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with IT Service Mgmt products such as ServiceNow.
  • Programming experience in any modern programming language such as .NET, Java or Python
  • Experience using developer IDE tools like Visual Studio, Eclipse or similar tools.
  • Experience with and ability to easily navigate through Microsoft Windows Server v2012 and above.
  • Experience working with HP Quality Center for test case management.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and ability to navigate easily through SQL Server DBMS.
  • Experience working with integration tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience working with additional SQL technologies, such as Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience working with monitoring tools such as Splunk.
