PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Accountant I - Property Accounting position!

Job Description

PSE's Property Accounting team, a key group of the Corporate Accounting and Tax group, is looking for a qualified candidate to fill an Accountant I position. The Accountant I will be joining a dynamic Property Accounting team responsible for managing over $13 Billion (net) of assets that provide gas and electricity to our customers. This position reports directly to the Property Accounting Supervisor, and works closely with PSE's Property Accounting team, Controller organization, and business units.

 

The successful candidate for this role will be someone looking to grow and develop their accounting career and will assist PSE in implementing best business practices while encouraging innovation and dedication to customer service and safety. The Accountant will be open-minded and willing to build insightful relationships throughout PSE.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform routine property accounting transactions including creation of capital orders, order maintenance, and capitalization.
  • Ability to manipulate and manage large volumes of data with accuracy, and meet various deadlines.
  • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare internal, external, and regulatory financial reports.
  • Respond to requests received from management and other departments.
  • Participate on special projects, development opportunities, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Comply with internal controls and assist with internal and external audits.
  • May act as a subject matter expert.

    • Complete daily responsibilities with minimal oversight and look for opportunities to identify and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and systems when applicable; that appropriately consider stakeholder feedback. Actively build knowledge and skills to align with industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Good understanding of GAAP
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access)

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting for fixed assets and capitalization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and business partners.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis abilities using tools such as PowerBI or Alteryx.
  • Understanding of ERP system (SAP preferred) including sub-modules.
  • Experience with PowerPlan system.
  • Familiarity with utility operations, FERC, and utility accounting.
  • Possession of high-level attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.

The pay range for this position is $70,200.00 - $99,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
