PSE's Customer Energy Mgmt & Renewables team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Product Development Manager position!

Job Description

The Senior Product Development Manager acts as a primary lead on customer product and service development, driving innovation in customer energy efficiency, decarbonization and electrification, business planning, and its incorporation into utility integrated system planning. Work includes managing critical external stakeholder collaboration, product and pilot category conceptualization, developing long-range strategic business objectives, business plan development, financial modeling, and product lifecycle management. Acting as a primary lead across multiple departments, you will support business cases that will include data driven customer and market research, financial P&L forecasts, vendor development and negotiation, regulatory planning and support, technology development, and operational planning. You will also be responsible for Pilot development, leveraging emerging technology, existing program channels, and external partners, to validate the value of potential future offerings. Approvals that you must secure for your product proposals typically include external stakeholders and regulatory, and at times, executive level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to others in the department and throughout the company.
  • Drive over-arching product strategy roadmap.
  • Coordinate and review the work of others who assist in specific assignments including contractors and consultants.  Consult with others on technical, regulatory policy and financial analyses.
  • Lead internal teams to bring large-scale product concept through internal and external approvals and to launch.
  • Identify market potential and pricing:  Lead cross-functional team to quantitatively test market for potential adoption of product concept. Identify beneficial changes to product concept based on customer research. Lead effort to measure acceptable price point for product in marketplace.
  • Lead operational planning, including vendor and partnership management:  Lead team to identify best means to deliver product to customers, including customer experience, sales process, technology requirements, personnel and equipment for operations and maintenance, mechanisms for delivery to customers, billing processes, and customer service.  Identify, build relationships with, and negotiate contracts with external partners or vendors as necessary to deliver all aspects of product.   Establish KPIs and reporting for performance of product line.
  • Lead development of profit and loss statements and forecasts:  Based on quantified market research, discussions with potential vendors, and knowledge of PSE and other programs, lead development of detailed financial proformas to support internal executive or board approvals, corporate financial forecasts, or regulatory submittals.
  • Market and sales planning:  Lead team to identify launch and follow-on customer segments, go-to-market strategy, advertising strategy, and set sales targets.
  • Provide guidance during product design and oversees prioritization of development activities to deliver large-scale or transformational products and/or projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, economics, engineering or related field.
  • 10 years’ experience in leading/implementing complex multi-disciplined market/program/product analysis, research, evaluation, or product launch.
  • 5 years increasing responsibility in the utility, energy or independent power sector.
  • Ability to develop and drive over-arching product strategy and roadmap to deliver large-scale or transformational products and/or projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver multiple complex customer-facing products or projects simultaneously.
  • Strong business and financial analytical skills with capability to analyze a wide array of business challenges.
  • Proven ability to identify and use advanced customer and marketing analytics.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize data and other information into clear, actionable deliverables.
  • Ability to build trust and value-based relationships with employees at all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation and analytical tools.

The pay range for this position is $116,300.00 - $193,600.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
