PSE's IT Application Solutions team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Data Governance Analyst position!

Job Description

As an essential member of the Data Services team, you will work with the Puget Sound Energy analytics and Data Governance community to develop, evolve and implement effective, best-practice approaches to data collection, data quality analysis, measurement, monitoring, analysis and reporting for Data Enablement initiatives and channels including digital media, web, search, structured data and unstructured information.

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide strong SQL development experience and ability to easily navigate through SQL Server or Oracle DBMS
  • Support the development of detailed and effective Data Quality analytics capabilities, and work with business colleagues to identify, prioritize and execute data quality profiling, cleansing and mitigation processes
  • Lead the creation of Data Governance process modeling and standards creation.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with technical tools such as PowerBI and HANA Studio
  • Use SAP Information Steward or Informatica Data Quality profiling and analytical tools to assess and remediate data and information quality
  • Understanding of MDM strategies and concepts, application, and impact to data analytics efforts. Proven experience and success with modeling & use of metadata

  • Help PSE to optimize user experience through information and data analysis
  • Capture, interpret and present data and insights to support data enablement strategies, solve business challenges, and drive efficiencies in technical and business performance
  • Help build our analytics capabilities to support our digital transformation, risk management and data enablement efforts for our keys systems such as SAP
  • Improve or create data management workflow, data flow diagrams and related processes
  • Partner with our external vendors, our business teams and internal stakeholders to define, capture, develop and deliver on core business metrics and KPIs that support key requirements for our company's initiatives and objectives, including related analysis and planning, reporting and ongoing project support across our organization.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Data Services to engage technical and business stakeholders to solve data and information challenges
  • Partner with other data and business analysts to support predictive and prescriptive modeling and visualization efforts
  • Ensure accuracy of all fact and dimensional data related to channels, sources of acquisition, frequency, transactions and significance testing
  • Generate ad hoc reports and test datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years IT experience, including several years of systems development experience in the design and development of department-wide or enterprise-wide applications.
  • Detailed understanding and 5+ years programming languages (specialized technical requirements as shown in attachment) and strong knowledge of office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Possesses full technical knowledge of phases of software development life cycle.
  • Experience with at least two full life cycle implementations of a new application or purchased application.
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple languages, i.e (specialized technical requirements as shown in attachment) environment, active business processes, business areas, as well as industry.
  • Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools. Full system life cycle experience, including development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Excellent technical writing and system documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, and conceptual skills. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills for moderate sized projects. 
  • Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems.  Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

  • Experience working with HP Quality Center for testing management and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining a robust analytics capability for an organization,
  • Demonstrated ability to develop tool sets and approaches for data management processes as well as educate others on how to apply these processes
