PSE's Customer Init & Continuous Improvement team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Technical Trainer - GIS position!

Job Description

Develops and delivers training and materials related to GIS (Geographic Information System) modules, GE Smallworld Electric Distribution Office and Gas Distribution Office, to enhance user proficiency and understanding.  Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams to analyze and translate business processes into learning and development modalities. 


Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads cross-functional teams in the development of training documentation, materials and/or handbooks related to GIS processes and in developing user proficiency.
    • Develops, maintains and administers training materials to meet business unit needs.
    • Evaluates and analyzes user needs and trends to leverage value added functionality that may require enhancement of end user knowledge, skills or abilities.
    • Coordinates with other experts to build content to link business process with knowledge transfer to end users using appropriate learning and development modalities.
    • Acts as trusted advisor to business management on training issues.
    • Develops and delivers training materials to enhance data retrieval, use and visulization to support analysis and reporting functions.
    • Acts as the training organization’s liaison with IT for new or upgraded/enhanced implementations, or related projects.
  • Recommends mitigation actions to business management to address risk.
  • Identifies gaps, risks in business process and bring to the attention of business management.
    • Researches, investigates and develops reports on issues.
    • Creates and develops metrics and analysis to ensure effectiveness of training in practice.
  • Mentors peers and others on best practices. 
  • Maintains system professional competence, knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, organization design, education or related field; or equivalent combination of eduation and relevant work experience may be substituted.
  • Experience in adult learning principles and learning modalities.
  • 5 years’ experience with GIS system including 2 year’s experience with GE Small World Electric Distribution Office and Gas Distribution Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Visio and Project.
  • Experience in change management and collaborative team environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s of business administration (M.B.A.), organization design, education or related field.
  • 7 years’ experience with GIS system with specific knowledge in utility solution implementations.
  • Previous experience in business process re-engineering or business process improvement, involving broad-based GIS information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change.
  • Experience in development of all types of learning modalities.
  • Experience with CSOD or other learning management systems
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline, Captivate or other authoring software.
  • Knowledge of related codes, construction, standards, work practices and regulations related to GIS.
