Job Description

PSE’s Distributed Energy Resource strategy team is looking for a Strategy Development Manager to lead PSE’s efforts to develop the platforms and processes needed to integrate DERs into the existing energy system. The DER Strategy Development Manager works in highly matrixed and cross-functional settings, bringing together operational, customer, IT, regulatory, and other requirements to conceptualize and deploy platforms and processes for PSE’s future DER portfolio, including resources owned by PSE, customers, and 3rd parties. This role works across both customer-facing and operational parts of the utility to ensure the right IT projects, IT/OT strategies, Asset Management Strategies, and Operational strategies are prioritized and developed such that DERs can be deployed at-scale. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple parts of the utility to bring PSE’s DER vision to fruition.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a PMO organization that coordinates strategies for DER Asset Management, Dispatch and Operations Management, and IT/OT Management.
  • Work with multiple internal groups to ensure that the processes and platforms necessary for the end-to-end customer experience with Distributed Energy Resources are appropriately resourced and meet budgets and schedules.
  • Work with multiple internal groups to ensure that the platforms and processes necessary to dispatch Distributed Energy Resources are appropriately resourced and meet budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate budgets and schedules for DER enablement projects.
  • Meet regularly with internal stakeholders to track progress and provide updates
  • Leads operational planning, including vendor and partnership management:  Leads team to identify best means to deliver DER products to customers, including customer experience, sales process, technology requirements, personnel and equipment for operations and maintenance, mechanisms for delivery to customers, billing processes, and customer service.  Identifies, builds relationships with, and negotiates contracts with external partners or vendors as necessary to support strategy development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering or related field
  • 7 years’ experience in leading/implementing complex multi-disciplined market/program/product analysis, research, evaluation, or product launch
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver complex customer-facing products or projects
  • Excellent organizational, analysis, and problem solving skills including applying analysis and statistical methods to study complex and unique business issues.
  • Proven ability to lead or oversee financial modeling
  • Proven ability to identify and use advanced customer and marketing analytics
  • Proven project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to synthesize data and other information into clear, actionable deliverables
  • Ability to build trust and and value-based relationships with employees at all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation and analytical tools

Desired Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Experience in energy sector
